Question about TAXI #S100212CO

Post by DorothyWallace » Wed Jan 27, 2010 11:13 am

I'm interested in writing something for this listing. Is a rough guitar/vocal demo okay? I don't think I will have time to have anything produced to broadcast quality.

New Listing TRADITIONAL COUNTRY SONGS a la "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" by the The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, "When I Get Where I Goin'" by Brad Paisley, "Family Tradition" by Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., and "Mama's Don't Let Your Baby Grow Up to Be Cowboys" by Willie Nelson, "Love Can Build A Bridge" by the Judds, wanted by an established Australian female Country star. She is looking for songs that would be suitable to perform as either a duet or a group. Songs that family members could sing together would be particularly good. These songs will be considered for inclusion on her next studio album and will be performed nation-wide on her next tour. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Friday, February 12, 2010. TAXI #S100212CO

I've been somewhat interesting in this listing as well (being Australian myself). All I can tell you is that Australian country music is of a noticeably lower standard than American country music.

Therefore, I wondered if the bar was lower on this one.

Thanks Stuart,

I decided to submit my song. This is the first time I wrote something specifically for a listing. I'd love to get feedback.

The Memories that Bring me Back Home
© Dorothy Wallace

When I was a girl I was restless
To break out and follow my dreams
I was sixteen and pretty when I moved to the city
With my guitar, my suitcase and a fire inside me

The music has been such a blessing
It’s more than I ever wished for
but now I’m reminiscing
feel like something’s missing
reminding me how simple life was before

(Chorus)
The smell of fresh bread in the morning
The laughter that rings through the air
The comfort and warmth of a family
Knowing they’ll always be there
A haven where love has no boundaries
Where God is a good friend you know
I always can cherish these memories
The memories that bring me back home

We all sit at the dining room table
Telling stories about yesterday
Mom fills us in
About all that’s been
Someone had a baby
Someone passed away

Dad pulls out my old photo album
We all laugh at my feathered hair
He kissed me on my head
Before I went to bed
Then he fell asleep in his old recliner chair
(repeat chorus)
