I also listen to all sorts of music on my MP4 while exercising, which is great because it's when I'm in my most determined frame of mind. Usually has to be upbeat though!Happy writing Chits, very cool thread!

Quote:"There are 4 steps of creation:#1. Exposure to external events (in our case it could be past memories, or your instrumental track)#2. Incubation (let the subconscious do it's thing)#3. Revelation (the act of creating...this is the phase that keeps me up at 1:13am)#4. Evaluation (later critiquing what was written down and deciding what to keep)That pretty much sums it up. The interesting thing for me is how long I spend in each phase and how that greatly varies from one song to the next.

Hi Chits, I've written the lyrics to three works off the instrumentals sent to me by M. Lightcap in Chico, CA. "IT CUTS BOTH WAYS" and "TIME MACHINES AND MAGIC LAMPS" are posted on SonicBids, while "SETTLE THE SCORE" hasn't been demoed yet. I downloaded the music, put on the phones, got a feel for the piece, and followed his melodies to the note by singing to it over and over until the idea and flow worked. We kicked "CUTS" back and forth for a while until we both liked it. It was actually quite a pleasant experience, cause like most, I write the lyric and music together. It was a nice change and very doable.

BTW, I owe some folks some e-mail, but I've been so busy working out in the yard, I haven't gotten around to answering them today....will answer ASAP.
