I'm wondering if anyone out there can give me feedback on their experiences pitching songs, especially in the country listings, as far as whether you've had more success pitching songs that were more produced versus guitar/vocal minimal productions. For example I've got an absolutely killer country lyric. A screener has called it 'top shelf.' But I can't get anyone to bite and my paranoia always wonders if it's because of things that bugged me throughout production such as the singer not getting the melody and delivery the way I want it. Makes me think I should just do a version of my own mediocre voice with no band at all since I've seen this suggested for pitches.Another thing I keep wondering is whether a screener has the vision to see past things I did in the demo like the particular fills or licks or even the key and possibly more structural issues. Will these things keep me from getting a forward even though the lyric/chord/melody stuff is all solid? In other words, if I go to all the trouble to produce this demo the way I think it might be done in Nashville, is someone gonna say 'well we just don't like that baritone guitar lick in the third verse so we'll pass'One more thing: I've redone tunes based on screener feedback but I still stand by the original version for its own merits and I've been submitting both. Any thoughts?I know there's no real answer to these things but I was hoping I could get a better perspective from your experiences. Thanks
