R-man goes scientific/investagation
WELL GUY'S...Today I got rained out of work.. So I went on the peer and put my 2 cents in on everybody's posts..Then I got that urge to write a tune ...SO I did this....does it fit and if it don't .where does it go...and is there to much delay...Jay...DRAMATIC SCIENTIFIC/INVESTIGATIVE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Production Music Library/Publisher that focuses on placing music in video games, interactive web sites, etc. They are looking for moody, dark, suspenseful, mysterious, revealing, dramatic instrumentals in the vein of CSI Las Vegas, House, etc. They are pretty open stylistically, but should convey the moods described here. This company deals with a lot of music that plays more of a primary role, and not so much an underscore. This means the music will need to stand on it's own, and gives you a hint of the importance your music plays. Ideally, length of tracks should be 1-2 minutes long. Please have all various track lengths of :60s, :30s, etc, versions available to send onto the company if they contact you directly to request it, even though it's not necessary to submit all versions through this listing request. They offer exclusive licensing agreements, where licensing fees are split 50/50 with writer, and split publishing 50/50 (they keep publishers share, writer keeps writer's share). Writer must control all publishing rights. Broadcast quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than August 13, 2008.TAXI # S080813INhttp://www.taximusic.com/download/153996....sound%20bed.mp3

Wasn't popping at all when I listened. The snare sound seems a little too up front, ahead of the groove and changing timbre a bit too much. Maybe delay it 100ms and make it quieter. Wadja use for this? It's cool R-man. However, I don't know much about this genre. I would recognize a clik, or pop. Nothing like that at all.

works just fine, sounds just as fine to my ears r-man, it's supposed to be ambient, so a little over the top with the delay/reverb is cool for me.the best,wh

To get nit-picky, I'd still say that the overall composition is leaning more toward "nice" than it is "dark, moody". The sounds also lean a little towards New Age more than the edgy Electronica sound that CSI, for example, is known for.I'll share something from John Keane himself (the composer for CSI). A year or so ago, someone gave me his contact info and I recently sent him an email asking about his sounds and, in general, if he had any advice. Surprisingly he replied the next day... nice guy and a real pro to share with an unknown like me. Anyway, he briefly talked about taking "nice" sounds, stuff like you might find in Spectrosonics Atmosphere, and applying a little distortion or other effects to it to give it an edge. Obviously you can't distort everything but he did emphasize that he took a lot of "regular" patches and sounds and twisted them up in one way or another to get rid of the "nice" aspect of any particular patch... anything to give it an edge and make it "not so nice". HTH,DavePS - No, I'm not going to post (or share) his contact info. PSS - There's a CD (or iTunes too probably) called CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Soundtrack. It has various artists but John Keane has a track on that CD called "Investigation Suite". It's kind of a montage of various things he's done for the show. Good reference material but probably not as good as a couple random episodes from the show itself.
