Words typed on a computer screen only have as much power as you give them. We're all learning at the same time. Eventually, we'll figure out what there is to learn about this thread. Hey I have some observations, not directed at anyone personally... wanna see? Some people have loud opinions (& need to share them), and some people learn quietly. Usually, loud protests will generate the most attention. The "gang" mentality spontaneously combusts because it needs to periodically. When someone is yelling or talking trash, it's a bit like a traffic accident. People are going to stop watch, and maybe comment. It's just human nature. Once we get 5 opinions on any given subject, we acquiesce to the knowledge or start arguing more vehemently. Once emotional resistance has lowered, the learning how to or why of something, happens pretty quick. Many of us join the Taxi Forum exposing our "score some kind of hit," expectation. We generally think our perceptions help someone else understand, and should be appreciated. Most musical artists experience both learning from mentors, and teaching noobs. Every member's ratio is different and changes over time. Every member who posts here, is making an attempt to participate as, or at least point out something a writer/producer would deem reasonable knowledge. Any time a thread's subject is in the form of a complaint or negative comment about Taxi or listings, it's actually made by a creative person who is experiencing a block. The blocks are often temporary and usually the combined credibility of participating forum members pushing against, is about equal to the resistance of the thread starter. You can see when someone's emotional resistance changes, by the language they use in their post. Participating here for me, has been mostly awesome and sometimes painfully public. This forum has been quite a positive force in my life for more than 2 years. I was going to tell you to be brave enough not to delete your posts. Then again, I've deleted lots and some I still wish I'd never posted. And there are a lot more people who write things here and later want to take them back. Doesn't matter one way or the other. The learning that happens here, is both addictive and inevitable. Feel free to disagree or not. I just felt like writing about our very cool place. Being Mr Sunshine is a big responsibility!

Hey Mr SDon't get down - stick at it I had a listen to your track - impressive. As it happens, my iTunes played Block Rocking Beats right after your track (I guess because Chemical follows Charles alphabetically ) BRB was on a compilation album I bought in the late 90s. For sure, I'm guilty of a little dating here.I think Andre might have a point about the drums compression. The CB's drums are very 'in the face' and the kicks and snares are co-layered with dark, tense samples. Semi-industrial even.I'm not at all qualified to ascertain whether you should have been forwarded for this listing or not. But I listened to the two tracks back to back quite a few times and yours was just a bit..... nicer. I think that's the best word.I'm not part of any gang-up thing. Just tossing a couple of humble cents your way. Hang in there - I'm sure everyone here has been returned for what they felt was a sure thing.Liam

Hey guys...I've been busy with other things so I haven't checked in (not trying to ignore anyone)! First off, thanks for the positive remarks and encouragement...second, Yes, I agree most people here are very nice and try to be helpful and I appreciate that. Let me just try to clarify my position with this posting...I have had this return for several days without a peep from me. I've gotten many returns...I'm not gonna complain every time Taxi doesn't grab up my latest and greatest hit!!! Afterward, I usually keep an eye on the 'Success Stories' to check out what got forwarded in my category (because everyone gets their pass/fail results about the same time)...and many times, I've been near embarrassment at the quality of some of the forwards compared to mine. I've learned just as much by doing that as I have anything. Here lies the issue at hand. When compared to the forward, I felt mine was in equal territory. That was my concern...again, let me repeat 'That was my concern'...Everyone was doing their best to try to critique the song based on their knowledge of the a la(s)...in a nutshell, telling me I had to be 'better' than the Crystal Method, Prodigy, etc. I know my song isn't gonna get picked up by one of those guys, but I still feel it's as good as the forwarded track...I'm not putting anyone down, not saying anyone does or doesn't deserve a forward...again, just saying I felt my track (and CK's for that matter) deserved a forward based on the quality OF FORWARDS that I had privy to.As far as the criticism, I feel it's easy when the 'official Taxi critique' is right there to read. Basically, everyone was rewriting the Taxi information (I'm not saying it was wrong info, so...). I'd like to try an experiment...I have another track (several!). I'll post it on here without all the Taxi info and you guys tell me if it was a Forward or Return and why??? I have a feeling it will be a little tougher when we don't play follow the leader...I hope you guys will take this post in the spirit that I am writing it. I'm not trying to be argumentive or disrespectful...as a matter of fact, I didn't intend to post on this topic again but it seems everyone is so interested in it that I felt I had to restate my position. Believe me, I'm really a nice guy and want to avoid a personal flame war at all costs. If it gets to that, I will immediately stop posting and feeding the frenzy. Constructive posts great...personal attacks, not so great...Cya,(the not so dfferent) Chuck
Aren't the 'good things that come to those who wait' just the leftovers from the people that got there first?
