I would jhave to agree with you robbylane I am on the 9th floor below you. As far as the lines goes they were some long lines but I thinl that it was worth it but to me it gave you a chance to meet some very cool people and makes some cool freinds. I mean if you just wlak aroud there were folks just coming up to you to say hello you cant really get no better than that. I am still on est so the time know here in LA it's 6 am I am about to get up and get ready for the day class's start at 9:00 like robbylane said more to come. who ever is not here you should have came it's the bomb. Hey JP! I'm on floor 9 too!! I guess this is where they put the best... Some thoughts from here...First, you may not have any idea just how much the forum is talked about here. The great place the forum has become is due to everyone's participation and help to each other, (obviously) regardless of whether you came to the rally or not. You are all part of something very special. Michael definitely recognizes and appreciates that. If you are not here in person, you are here in spirit. One thing I want to mention is you shouldn't come to the rally ONLY because you expect to meet that person that will make your career, give a CD to that right person, etc. Could it happen? Yes, but it is not something to expect and make as your primary goal. The rally is special (1) because of the networking with your peers, both current friends and new ones. Besides it being fun, everything contact in life has value... I'm sure you already see that right here on the board....and (2) the classes and sessions can be very valuable. It is true that the more experienced you are in both the craft and business of music, the more likely you will hear many things you already know. However, if you learn one thing in a 2 hour session that helps you, it is very worthwhile. There is always something to learn.I had a mentor session with someone whose bio was strong in both rock music and film/TV. Mentor sessions are 10 minutes, so you really have to work hard to make every minute of the "speed-dating" session count. I know this person screens with taxi for film/TV and has great related credentials, so his/her telling me in person that my hook wasn't strong enough in a song meant even more--- hearing it in person from someone like this just seemed even more important than written on some critique from a person with a number. The event is terrific for just plain motivation... It pushes you to get off your ass, stop procrastinating, and work on your career... to find time in the day to do some of those things you said you would get to "tomorrow".Anyway, thinking of all of you... Live from LA Casey

So far the past 2 days I've picked up some good info in the sessions. More importantly, I've had some great conversations with many members. Talking music and songwriting all day long is so very cool. I've probably spent too much time at the bar but hey, it's been fun!Rich

Thank you for the update Casey but I'd feel happier about this:Nov 8, 2008, 10:43am, hurowitz wrote:If you are not here in person, you are here in spirit. if the next message hadn't read:Quote: I've probably spent too much time at the bar... Perhaps I'd better look to possibilities for next year, for my spiritual safety... Still, I have more than one shot available! Tim

Saturday (today, now late-nite) was another excellent day of classes. I am constantly making new friends and exchanging business cards. My colorful AC/DC wardrobe has attracted a lot of people, but on the flipside, I am quick to initiate a lot of conversations and establish social bridges. The West L.A. Music Store staff are here and my cool new sales guy (who used to play bass for Rick Springfield) plans to sell me the new Pro Tools LE 8 program at the lowest possible price. I also purchased a new songwriting book from Jason Blume at his book table. This day was just as amazing as Day 1 for me. Got Sunday sessions yet, so one more day of classes. Then I fly out on Monday afternoon. It's fun to leave home fo such an awesome event, but then I get the simple pleasure of returning home again. And of course, next week I will have time to share my experiences in great detail. I have cool stories to tell. But I hate typing on this laptop, so I have to get back home to my normal keyboard where my fingers can fly and I can get so much more said in less time. Furthermore, for some reason I just could not sleep last night. The bags under my eyes represent the Zombie Species. I have lines deep enough to plant crop seeds. Helllloooooo hotel bed!!!!
