Lyric Lovers, Lyric Lovers, Lyric Lovers ....Yep, even after repeating it 3 times - out loud (wearing a sock puppet , holding a pop-tart) , it still sounds like the right place to post Lyrics - if you're into that LYRIC LOVING scene. You know, hooking up words, phrases and clauses... ha! Girly stuff! It's like i always say , " if you ain't deaf ... why waste your eyesight " Go Big or Go Braille!RanG

Re: Sweet Darlin' Cherie
Hey johnnydean1 and RanG. Quite a discussion going on here about which comes first, lyrics or music. I don't do music, so I'm relegated to lyrics only. I try to write them where they are easy to sing, therefore easy to create music for. Here's the very first lyrics I ever wrote. Richard Hefner of ezfolk.com created the music and recording. Give a listen. I think it came out OK.http://ezfolk.com/audio/play.php?mode=s ... .htmlUnder Honolulu Moon (Larry W. Jones 3/26/2002)(song#001a; alt title of Under Hanalei Moon)Like the gentle winds that blow there, is my love for you.Hand in hand we strolled the sands, my love's still true.Honolulu bay is calling, me back to you.Beams of love are under, Honolulu Moon.Honolulu Moon, I'll come back to you.Honolulu Moon, you'll be there too.Gentle winds are calling, me back to you.Beams of love are under, Honolulu Moon.On the isle they call Oahu, a flower for your hair.Gentle winds and mem'ries, waiting for me there.Honolulu bay is calling, me back to you.Beams of love are under, Honolulu Moon.Honolulu Moon, I'll come back to you.Honolulu Moon, you'll be there too.Gentle winds are calling, me back to you.Beams of love are under, Honolulu Moon.Beams of love are under, Honolulu MooonVisit Island Song Lyricshttp://www.pic-a-pagediscounts.com/song_lyrics_1.html

Well done. I have a question about something you mentioned earlier: "I try to write them where they are easy to sing. " How do you know when something will be easy to sing, do you sing, hum or tap as you write ? Follow a song writing formula? What ever the process i would love to hear about it... If you care to share.Tanks in advance,RanG

Hello RanG. I don't have any "scientific" method of putting the words together. Yes, I sing-in-my-mind / hum the lines as I go along. One source I have found to be indespensible is rhymezone.com http://rhymezone.com/.It sure helps in curing writers block.

The voice is an instrument , like any other. Whether you're humming , striking, or strumming, the outcome is the same... melody and music. Thanks again for your response, oh yeah... I agree , rhymezone is a great site. RanG

You can use it for rhymes or definitions, etc. It accesses a whole heap of dictionaries.
