Thanks again Casey, and Digital1.
I am going to take in all the useful observations.
Jeff, I get what you mean by the 80's reference - I went to You Tube to listen to J.Mayer's "Heartbreak Warfare" and funnily, the forum comments on him were that it sounded like an 80's song!
Thanks and best of luck to you as well!

Guys, I just have a final question about the listing policy: If I can pitch 3 songs to the listing Can I in theory send my original 'Rebound Girl 'version as well as two more variations based on 'forum input' of what is basically the same song?

Yes, you asolutely can do that, pitch multiple versions of a song for the same listing. And the limit of 3 only applies to what you can do at one time/one purchase. You can pitch more by submitting again.

I don't think you should pitch the original version for THIS listing. Of course, since it is an "S" listing, you would get some feedback for your $5. Also keep in mind that this is what's called a "high bar" listing. When it's a major label pitch, only the creme of the crop have any chance- HIGHLY selective. It's important to read between the lines a little when reading listings.

Good luck! I like the song and hope you find the best approach and target.

Best,
Casey

Haywire, I think it is a good question you asked, but I would say after you finish the three versions it should be more apparent which version would be better suited. If they like this version the best, and think it is dated and doesn't fit the listing, I don't know how that might influence the other two versions.
