Hey Vermeer, whatever works for you is what you should use! It's the music that counts anyway!bombay, for sure try the mono approach, it may open up a new world for you! The world of Fostex 16 tracks was fun and the (in hindsight) lack of options was many times a creative catalyst. Now it seems like it's about fishing through a billion loops or synth patches to find the right one. When I "only" had 120 patches in my OB8 life was a simpler. Would I go back? Nah!I've seen those Charles Dye DVDs advertised and watched a demo clip once, I think they are good and I'll probably pick them up eventually.I came up through reel to reel and cassette 4 tracks and some of my best sounding stuff was done on a 2" 24 track in the 90s. I miss that sound but not the expense and setup time (150.00 for 16 minutes of 2" tape and you had to calibrate every time you put it on!). I've totally embraced digital but still strive for that fat, warm, delicious analog non-linearity and distortion. There's a reason all those "analogizer" plug-ins are so popular!Cheers,Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!
