Re: Remix! Is this better?
Alright already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I reduced the compression on this mix and tweaked the eq. I can hear the vocals fine but as Bill says, it might be my personal preferance. I did bring the levels up a couple db but Ill keep going. I guess I like the vocals mixed in instead of out front.Devin your advice is great. I do alot of those things. I even listen to mixes on my wifes little boom box. IN the truck, In the dvd player, etc. Im going to try that sweeper your talking about. Id live to know how my mixing environmemt is. My monitors are old CROWN studio monitors. I got them at an auction that a local pro studio had several years ago They are circa 1980's but all the speakers have been replaced and cones and magnets are all top notch.Maybe I need some smaller monitors. I dont know, these things are super at sound reproduction. Sound as good as my Mackie monitors.Stephen. You and others have suggested verse/chorus differentiation. I agree. While this was just an Americana style jam in the beginning, I think with everyone's thoughts ill start really taking this to the next level. Ive already thought of a great riff to lead into the chorus's andout of the verse's. Little segue's to spice things up.Funny you should mention Glenn Frey. My co-writer and I thought the same thing when developed this. Some Glenn Frey/Mellencamp/Skynard? Hell who know's back to mixing. Gonna find a nice hook too!Great input everyone thanks so much!!And Jay!!!! WHere the heck you been bro?????? Good to see you.M~
