Hey everyone,
I really liked the Resolutions episode on January 6 but I have a question. Resolution #3 was to watch 3 episodes of 3 shows for a week. Catfish, Keeping Up With The Kardashians & The Challenge. This has been a really great learning experience for me.
Here's my question:
What do the Taxi listings look like that are looking for music for these types of shows? Are they listed as Instrumentals? Cues? Can anyone share a Taxi listing (past or current) that would be looking for music for this type of use?
Thanks for any input you all have.
Jim

A lot of Dramedy-Instrumentals are used in reality TV shows. This is a current listing which I believe is a good example:-jhewitt79 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 11:43 amHey everyone,

URBAN TENSION INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Music Industry Veteran that’s building a new Music Licensing catalog.
They’re looking for Mid-To-Up Tempo Instrumental Cues in the stylistic ballpark of the following examples below:
Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood (From 1:28 – 2:05)
Basketball Wives (From 0:51 – 1:25)
NOTE: This is for an entertainment Industry Veteran who has several shows currently in production, and he needs a lot of music! If you’ve got this type of Cue, don’t be shy about submitting a bunch of them for this request!
Give them well-crafted Tension Cues with current-sounding Hip-Hop beats that could support tension-filled scenes in Reality TV shows. Build your Cues around a central melodic theme while adding and subtracting layers of instrumentation as they progress to add dynamics, interest, and forward movement. Please avoid anything that sounds too busy, as it could potentially interfere with dialogue.
Your submissions should be at least 90 seconds in length, and a little bit longer is fine. Non-Faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best for this request. Broadcast Quality is needed.
This Industry Veteran get syncs ranging up to $250 per Instrumental Cue, depending on the placement and show.
This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal. You’ll split any applicable sync fees 50/50. You’ll get 100% of the Master rights and Writer’s share, and the Library will get 100% of the Publishing for any placements they generate. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener hand-picked by the Music Library Owner. All Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Sunday, January 19th, 2020. A great show that was. Gave me new motivation.
I took the challenge of the 4 hour productions and have to say: for cues I'm much faster
I have produced 4 albums this year with Lounge/Chillmusic. Each cue cost less than two hours. So, at least regarding timing I am fit. And some people seem to like the albums
If you are interested in a result, you can check it here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4rpNwYC ... RquLWWUXJw

It's hard to know from the Listings because the styles of music they want can vary so much.jhewitt79 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 11:43 am

IE - KUWTK might be one of : Comedy - Emotional - Neutral - Glam - Tension - Upbeat - Transition etc
I've had placements in all of the shows you mention but it wasn't necessarily because the Listing was specific to that show , it's because I got into the Library for something else and it turned out that all supply the shows you mentioned. Once you're in a Library you'll often get briefs for the shows they work with and their own reference tracks etc.
The best thing is to pick the Listings where you think the reference tracks are most similar to what you have been researching, and that that you enjoy making. The Challenge might be a little easier to spot as it's somewhat trailer like but I've had Hip Hop & Acoustic tracks used in it too. So you can never tell.
