Re: Return after Return...
Bob,I would encourage you to not focus on the returns. Returns and rejection are all part of this journey. For that matter rejection is a large part of any creative endeavor. Not everyone likes everything. If you buy into the idea that rejection is part of the "thinning the herd" process, one can choose to develop a thick skin or fold. Persistance is a critical element of success in anything worthwhile.I have always viewed a forward as a favorable introduction. If I decided I wanted to meet Eric Clapton, would it matter that I had 150 failed attempts to meet him, if finally I secured a favorable introduction and a meeting. I achieved my goal.I could go on to quote all the (now) cliches about not giving up, but I won't.Chuck

I'm aware 17 isn't a hefty number, however, I'm 28 years old, and live paycheck to paycheck. The mere 2 digit number may simply be a drop in the bucket, but its never easy to bat an eye at $85. Oh and on a side note... 0 for 18! WHOOO! High Fives on the house!!! hahaThe rejection has actually made me "gun shy" persay, be it, the cheap $5.00 submission, I keep asking myself, "should I really bother???", Do I really want to hear another screener tell me how "great of a song writer I am, and how he/she enjoyed my track(s), however its not what they were looking for..." etc... The discouraging journey pushes on, and the light on the horizon grows dimmer day after day...BobBob,I hear you and understand your situation.I also know that you'll know if you're in it for the long haul if you'll do anything it takes to keep doing it, rejections and all.If you look at it like you're interviewing for a job, would it make it any easier to take? Because that's really what you're doing with this TAXI submission business. Consider TAXI to be the least expensive head hunter you'll probably ever hire. What head hunter doesn't take a percentage of your salary after you land the gig?Just another perspective.Hang in there.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Hey Bob,Does this mean one got thru and is being forwarded? Hallelujah! I've heard it said that the only difference between a "big shot" and a "little shot" is that the "big shot" is the "little shot" that kept shooting. Way to go!Dave

Re: Return after Return...
Thomas Edison was once asked, "Aren't you discouraged to have tried and failed 5,000 times to find a material to make the electric light bulb?' He replied, "I haven't failed at all. I have successfully identified 5,000 things that do not work, which puts me that much closer to the thing that will work." I believe you have successfully identified 19 things that don't work, which puts you that much closer to the things that do work. I predict your success rate will continue to get higher as time and experience grow.Dave

Re: Return after Return...
I have 86 returns to date for 2009. However, I am just signing my second TAXI-related deal this year (my 4th all together), and by the end of the year, I will have signed at least 40 tracks in 2009, perhaps more. That's pretty major for me at this stage of my journey, three years into my 5-to-10 year 'a la Matt Hirt' plan . Stick-to-it-ness pays off (as does listening & learning).

Re: Return after Return...
I agree, Thank you very much Vikki! The road to success seems to have many twists, turns, pot holes, speed bumps and over-turned vehicles. Its great to hear there is a destination waiting us at the end of the road, and its as glorious as it seems! And its great to hear you make it there, on a tank of gas! hahaBob
