Returned submissions ...

Post by PeterD » Thu Oct 17, 2013 1:15 pm

In the past, a return stung pretty badly, and the rest of the day was ruined ...

These days, 1.75 seconds later, I'm over it!

I TOTALLY hear ya Andy ...
If it's a bad day, it makes it so much worse. Maybe today's an "ehh" day so I'm able to brush it off easier.

Yelling at the monitor saying things like: "You don't know what you're talking about (and a few other choice words), Mr./Mrs. Screener" is helpful too ;)

My first couple of returns were for y/n and those weren't so bad. Then I got my first return with a full critique and it definitely hit me in the gut hard. Some things I thought were solid, I was called out on. Now I know what to work on and for some reason the next return didn't feel nearly as harsh.

Davey: New listings are therapeutic? ;)

Paul: It's after 4 years of making "improvement", and those jabs keep coming, when it's difficult. Always nice to know my library contact will take 50% of whatever a screener says "no" to ... 8-)

Curious to see how this new "easy screening" is all going to go down, and what the results will be ...?

i had three returns this week...bummed a bit, but then got a skype call from a music reviewer in singapore today and ended up doing a 30 minute live interview radio show on my new cd. that was weird.

see how it all evens out for me? (seinfeld)

I actually just smiled when I got a return. The screener found the same thing wrong with the submission that I thought and used the same word to describe the problem that came to my mind. Of course, they knew it in one listen, and it had taken me about 100. I just posted about it in the General Hangout (I meant to do it in Peer to Peer but was bouncing around a little too much to keep my mind straight.)

Not getting dragged down by a return is progress. Being happy about it is even cooler.
