Hey cool :)

Autotune?
Does he mean in the intro? I heard some "effect" here but i didn't see it as wrong personally , more like what Imogen Heap uses for Hide and Seek?

If you want some fresh ears here , repost this again here, as I recon folk may not feel the need to comment as it has a few replies now.

There's autotune on the whole track, but I didn't want it to be too noticeable. The imogen heap song you're thinking of (hide and seek) is actually not autotune, it's a vocoder - you basically mix the word sounds with the tone of a synth so you get a kind of robot thing going on. Lovely track though, very minimal. No, what you're hearing on my track is probably just all the backing vocals (which DO have a lot of autotune on them, I can never be bothered to record perfect bvs), it does have a similar effect I suppose :-)

Yeah I know about the critiques (I was on the mailing list for taxi for about a year before I signed up), I'm currently waiting to hear back about this song: http://soundcloud.com/tessbeighton/change-your-mind

You think I should re-post? I just assumed that would be a bit rude. I guess we're all trying to get our songs out here.

Hehe, ok this is silly but if you wanted to know what my song would sound like with the vocoder on (as I clearly did!) then here you go:

I think you mic is a bit like my home mic in that it picks up the SSSSSSSSSS a bit too much. You might want t de'ess some areas.

when there is a big SSSSSSSSSSSS sort or makes me jump, I'm very jumping person lol.

Ughh yes I know, I have issues with deessers. It just ruins the vocal track when I add it. If anyone has a nice light preset for logic's deesser I'd appreciate it, I just can't quite get the hang of it yet.

Oh and if you were wondering my mic is the Rode NT1-A

you don't need it very often, like you said if you use it the whole track is sounds bit crap but if you can use it just at certain points to take the edge off might help, I normal study the sound wave very closely then split around the problem area apply the de-ess and it works, bit boring.

Tess,

I think the song is very solid. The only vocal issue I heard was around 1:30 seconds on the word "And" other than that I think they work. The hook is solid and the melody is very catchy. I like the way you used the chorus as the intro. With the chorus in the beginning you hear that melody line a lot...it did have very slight feel of "here we go again" by the end (very slight) maybe if you embelish it a little vocally after the bridge or did something different with the music.
God bless,
Lee Lumley

Nice! I love the background vocals, how they are not too tight, but supportive and interesting. It adds a lot to the mix.
