Does anyone have any experience using this audio interface? I have my new computer all set up with some pretty awesome virtual instruments, but as we all know nothing sounds as nice as the actual thing. I'd like to get back into playing/writing/recording guitar and bass tracks. I've heard a lot of great things about this unit. It's a little pricey, but I would rather get a high quality machine and have it last for a while.

Boardman:I had the RME Fireface 800 and ABSOLUTELY loved it. The software takes a bit of getting used to, but the sound quality is worth the extra $$. You won't be disappointed...Blessings,

Re: RME Fireface 400
Hey Boardman, I bought a fireface 400 and am very happy with it. It's connected via firewire to my imac, which is running Logic pro 7.0. The drivers loaded with no problem and it did'nt take long to get a handle on the mixer software that comes with it. My understanding is that the pre-amps are of very high quality. Frankly, I shopped around a lot here in Montreal and on-line and everyone I spoke with said, hands down, it was the best in it's price range. I don't think you will be disappointed. Good luck!

The FF400 is a very nice interface indeed. I'd say the next step up is the Metric Halo 2882, followed by the Apogee Ensemble. But I like the software in the first two better than the Ensemble's even though it sounds a hair better.
