Rock/orchestra for listing - Revisd w/ Cruciform solo

Hi KC, I enjoyed the listen of this well composed track!

I agree with Rob in that the guitar at 1:06 sounded not real! As for the composition itself, again well composed, however to me it feels somewhat timid in terms of the rock genre! Being a guitarist myself, I would like to hear more guitars pounding away hitting me in the gut or face. There was a piccolo run at 0:33, 34 & again at 0:50 that sounded as if it might need some work in terms of realism.

I enjoyed the build up to 1:06; the brass is very well done; I would like to hear the aggressiveness of the bows attacking the strings; I also expected a big hit at 1:07 to transition into something somewhat bigger in texture & sound!

Please do take these comments, with a grain of salt, as I am no expert in this genre. I am sharing intuitive observations as they hit me when I listened.

I also agree that some real guitar tracks would really uplift this track to what I believe your vision is of it.

I'm glad for you that Rob has offered to play in some tracks for you! I will second the offer!

Thanks Vincent. I agree that there needs to be a bit more after the build. I will work on that in the morning, tomorrow. Thanks for commenting on the brass. I don't have a great brass library and I worked really hard at making it the best I could. I still think there is room for improvement, but I get a bit better each time I attempt to pull it off.

And no worries about hurting my feelings with your comments - I wouldn't ask if I wanted people to just blow smoke. We are all in this together and I hope to learn as much as I can from everyone here.

Very well composed and executed as always. Was that a sampled guitar at 1:06? The attack sounded distinctly midi, if not. In terms of this genre you could think about the 1:04-1:06 breakdown being maybe longer and more developed. Just a thought. Great work.

I thought the tune did well, as a guitar player I did not recognize the melody at 1:06 as guitar at all... nice melody, thought it worked with the tune...

In the future, If you need some distorted guitar melodies on your tracks just put a post up with a downloadable ling to your song. The melody can be played on your song by one of us geetar players and mixed with your song to the left and the dry guitar melody panned right.... you can the take your pick of what you hear, I am sure many of us could copy the melody pretty easily, and would be glad to volunteer their services.....

Thanks for all your comments. I made some changes per your comments and replaced my midi gtr solo with Rob's.

A huge thank you to Rob(Cruciform) for taking the time to not only listen and post comments, but for playing the solo! It makes a huge difference to have a real guitarist.

I think I could (or am) really get into writing this kind of music! It really sits well with my love of orchestral music.

Very sweet track, Kayle. Love the opening and flow of the piece. The guitar solo sounds awesome.

BTW, glad to see you took a stab at this listing. I was going to suggest that you go for it and not wait for your mockup chops to improve--that is something that can and will always get better over time with hard work and practice, so why put projects off, right?
