I have a custom made british guitar (copy of Gibson) by Gordon Smith, its wild. its really great for punky rock stuff.I used to use 9s (string gauge), but im using 11's now. i love it, it makes a big difference though my fingers hurt little bit. but i play acoustic gtr on the street all the time, so its no problem for me. my finger tips are like soft plastic.I mainly use free guitar plug-ins (amp sims), i just tweak some settings to make it sound like referenced bands (Paramore etc..) by ear. this way, i can change and adjust sounds later, rather than printing the effect and overdo it by miking the amp. i prefer miking it in a big studio, but for my bedroom production, i want my housemates to have peaceful time.some guitar sims dont have settings that i like at all so i just have to customize and save settings instead of looking for a new amp sim. i do use a real amp sometimes to get extra feedback sound !!
