Royalty Check

Post by Casey H » Sat May 20, 2006 8:28 am

Woooooheeee!! I got my first ever ASCAP royalty check today!!! I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. It's not at all about the money for me. It's the satisfaction of knowing how far I came since the year 2000 when I started. This is one of those moments that only a songwriter can understand. I always said I wouldn't care if it was only a nickel. Just wanted to hold that baby in my hand and frame it... This check is for $7.40. "Marry Me", a co-write, had been recorded by "Double Vision" ( http://www.doublevision.net.au/ ) and received airplay in Australia. My co-writer on "Marry Me", Deb Ferrara, is an amazing talent. Please stop by and check out her music at www.debferrara.com. OK, any suggestions on a good bottle of wine for $7.40 ?? OK, 1/2 a bottle.... LOL So glad to have friends to share this with. Casey

Hey, Congrats Casey! Ya beat me by about $1.00. I got a check from a music library the other day for $6.35. Whooppeeeee!!! Hmmm --- wine, eh? Well, I'm a confirmed Napa/Sonoma California Chardonney guy, but recently Columbia Crest (Washington) has been making some good inexpensive whites. Their 2003 Grand Estates chard is pretty good. And you might find a Kendall-Jackson chard for $7.40 if it's on sale.Another surprise is the development of the Gallo kids' winery, Gallo of Sonoma. Their cabernets are great for the price. The Aussies make great Shiraz. Rosemont is one that comes to mind.Drink up!Ern (California Wino)

There are some good Oz wines (merlot or cabernet) usually available for around $9. YOu can splurge on this special ocassion. Congratulations Casey.

Congrats Casey!Yeah I know...that first royalty check... ...a friend of mine DID have his framed...well okay a photocopy of it, he did cash the original. I guess they don't have Trader Joe's where you live...you could go to town in their wine department on $7.40 Otherwise Glen Ellen Cabernet is a good choice and well under that normally...best of the budget Cabs in my book. Their Gamay is real nice too if a cab's to heavy for you.matto
