Sad Piano Instrumental

Post by Tunesmith1 » Fri Aug 14, 2020 7:27 am

Yes!! At last!! So chuffed I've finally hit the mark with this one. I can do it after all!!

https://soundcloud.com/user-275194611/l ... PZYRKLw0Gb

SAD PIANO INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a European Music Licensing Company with an impressive list of placements in Film, TV, and Commercials!

They’re looking for Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumentals that would fall within the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:

"It's Hard To Say Goodbye" by Michael Ortega https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2_mUzaXJ9Q

“Love Lost” by Mattia Cupelli https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8MR3Y18wrM

Please submit Original, well-performed Solo Piano Instrumentals that create a sad, melancholic, and/or somber mood. Your Instrumentals should have solid musicianship from start to finish, with great articulation and tonality. Be sure to stick to a singular motif and mood throughout, so your submissions are cohesive from top to bottom. In other words, don't try to score a scene, so much as create something that sticks to one motif. If your Instrumentals evoke emotions like sadness, regret, or longing, then you might have exactly what this Company needs!

TAXI TIP: If you’re using sampled/virtual Pianos, be sure that they don't sound synthetic or obviously MIDI-driven, as that won’t work for this request.

Your submissions should be 2-3 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the Instrumentals you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll keep 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020. TAXI # S200715SP

Sounds great, Matthew! How long have you been a TAXI member and how many submissions before you got this forward? I'm assuming this was your first?

Congrats Matthew, I enjoyed listening to your music. Here's hoping that you get signed. Is that a real piano in your tracks? It sounds really nice

Thank you so much!
John - I've been a TAXI Member for a couple of years and have submitted loads of stuff but have taken it as a learning process. I think I am starting to really try to focus more on the 'detail' of the requests and maybe this is staring to help me. I have had 1 previous forward soon after I joined for 'classical piano'. I think 'piano' may be my thing.
Tim - yes it is my real piano - a Yamaha U3 miked with a spaced pair about 45cm from the piano left and right. I also use a 'Native Instruments' sample library and can get really clean sounding piano but I really liked the sad tone of the real piano on this track. Luckily enough I am a piano tuner so I can get it sounding pretty good at whim!
Thanks both of you for your kindness. Matt

Nice work and congratulations on the forward! And hello from a fellow piano tuner! Thirty-six years in the business full time this year. It's nice to be able to take an in-tune piano for granted! :)

Wow Loren! Good to meet another piano tuner! Are you in the UK also? I've only been tuning 32 years - mind you that's a lot of years between us :D I've had a listen to your music on your site. It's beautiful. I love the gentle subtlety of the tone and mix. I aspire to putting something together like your 'seasons'.

Yes, always good to meet a fellow tuner! And you're right, more years between the two of us than I care to admit! I'm in the States, not the UK. Thank you for the kind words about my music! Here's hoping your forward turns into a deal and some placements!

I think that is the key! The small details all sum to a bigger whole.

Cheers!
