Sample Players for Kontakt? Not vst

Post by Paulie » Thu Mar 10, 2016 7:30 pm

I've got a bunch of samples of various categories that I've created or gathered. Now I want to create an instrument or sound bank to play them. For example, I've got a ton of dub step growls and wobbles... I can drag them into something like Battery, which is meant to be a drum machine but still might work. Is there something else in the Native Instruments Kontakt Ultimate suite that I'm overlooking? The goal is to create my own sample banks, dub step, or maybe samples of my own sax playing, etc.

Suggestions?

yes, kontakt 5. ;)

Kontakt is a full-blown sampler, Kontakt Player isn't.

I just got a lot of work done tonight using Battery. I want to be able to play a bunch of different samples quickly, it did the trick. :)

Paulie, aren't you using Logic Pro? You have the EXS built in. That should work very well.

I have logic X and the sampler is a bit of a mystery to me. It appears to be more of a waveform generator and defaults to a grand piano. Is there a way to direct it to play samplers like an actual sampler ?

Not a Logic user as of yet, but I do know the EXS24 sampler can convert and load samples from Roland, Akai, Gigastudio and many others, including Soundfonts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB4_2IYBess to load one or more one-shot samples

OR

if you have KUlt, then you have the full version of Kontakt - and that should allow you to drag sounds into it and make sample instruments of whatever samples you have. I have done that a couple times, but by no means have any chops or expert level ability on creating sample instruments in Kontakt.

EXS24 is pretty easy and deeper than you might think. I just a made a bank of ship's horns, took me about 10 minutes. There are youtube videos to get you started.
