Quote:I did a big evil sounding Man-Choir a la "Hunt for Red October" by stacking myself a bunch of times trying to use a lot of different "voices" for a theme for a NASCAR Trucks series on Speed Channel. Buried in the the orchestra/rock band with nonsense syllables that sounded like the Darth Maul theme in Episode 1, it worked pretty well. Good suggestion, Stick (especially with Autotune around)! I used a similar approach on a Band of Brothers-type theme I did for a game a few years ago, and it worked out okay, as you say, under other instruments. I bet your namesake comes in handy when you're trying to mimick female voices... André

Quote:Andre,Check these out, not sure if it's what you're looking for but these guys have some pretty cool libraries worth checking out anyway:http://www.store.precisionsound.net/dem ... hpmazzHoly crap Mazz, did you listen to their demo before posting this link? You could've warned me...I just started wimpering like a baby and pee'd my pants right in front of my family - that's some spooky stuff! Not exactly what I had in mind, though...it doesn't seem like there's much melodic material in there; more effects-type sounds. Thanks for the suggestion, though!André

Well, I managed to find a copy of Voices of the Apocalypse second hand today...can't wait to install it and give it a listen! I hear EastWest might make this library an optional add-on to their current Symphonic Choirs offering sometime next year, but I'm glad I have this puppy in my hands now. Thanks to all for the advice!AndréPS - For those of you who haven't [recently] heard Marco Beltrami's them to "The Omen," you gotta check it out...it's astoundingly creepy.

I would imagine that applies even to out of print libraries but I don't know for sure. One of these libraries was restricted from usage in trailers and it might have been VOTA.Andre, might be worth checking into before you use it commercially.Better safe than sorry.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Yup, there's a sucker born every minute. What a silly restriction for such a trailer-oriented library...perhaps its creators are hoping for a piece of the back-end action? I'll give them a call and see what we can work out. Thanks for the heads-up, guys!André

Andre,It was developed by Nick Phoenix who, besides being the Quantum Leap libraries guy, is also a big trailer composer. Maybe that's why? Maybe he had to sign a contract with the singers that limited it's usage? Let us know what you find out. East West seems to be fairly responsive to questions.Mazz

The reason for the trailer restriction is that Nick Phoenix of QL makes his living doing trailers, so I guess he didn't like the competition This has been dropped now so I think they'd probably be agreeable to letting you use it for trailers. The much bigger problem is that ALL EWQL products have a no-resale clause. They are licensed to the original purchaser only and the license is non-transferrable. It's possible they might make an exception since this is an old product, but this is a very common restriction on a lot of music software, so it's something one should always bear in mind.matto
