Hey Casey, sorry to hear about the backache..... don't need that in summer....I have the same pinched nerve condition that Ern has at the C6. It was scary because it was making my index and middle finger numb in addition to the shoulder and arm pain.... bad for playing bass..... correctly....I've been seeing my wife's chiropractor who she's gone to on and off for the past 18 years. He did pretty good by me. The adjustments immediately got the pressure off the nerve, and the continuing regular adjustments and exercise therapy have been allowing it to heal... The thing that screwed it up in the first place was trying to impress the twenty somethings girls in their hot bikinis at the pool last summer..... by doing the butterfly stroke ..... probable the other thing you should take a look at is the position you sit in when at the computer.... that was also causing me some damage.... BTW, I would definitely go chiropractic before the "regular" doctors...... When I hurt it the first time about four years ago, I thought I had pulled my shoulder out..... complained of the pain in my shoulder and my doc recommended me to the orthopedic surgeon..... he x-rayed my shoulder and started sharpening his knife..... didn't even look at my spine. The chiropractor took a lot more time to examine my whole body, and showed me the disk inflammation in the x-rays from the orthopedic guy and his own and explained what the problem was..... I'd call myself cured now.... although I think I'm going to be mindful that I have to live with being less impressive to the twenty yo girls... cause I ain't as good as I once was....... The mind is sometimes "out"..... says yes you can... when the body is saying....no no no....don't.......!!!!! Call me and I'll give you the name of my Chiro.... he's in West Chester......ArkJack

Yea, I have the name of a Chiro closer to home so I'll see how the next week or so goes with P/T... You mean we still can't impress those young girls in bikinis? You do realize that at this point in life we are completely invisible to them!! I have to crack up... I started reading your thread and saw the part about "C6" and immediately thought you were talking about the chord!! I'm losing it... My bad posture and position at the puter is 100% the root of my problems. It's so hard to change but I have to... Last year I had a lot of neck problems as well as arms and thumbs... It went away, but I guess not really.. The stress just moved somewhere else...I was going to call you to get together and make some musical noise... But right now I'm not driving more than 15 minutes at a time... We have to write that next Grammy hit from your basement studio... Howz the bean counting these days? Casey

Perhaps you could play a C6 on the spine. I imagine it would sound a bit like a xylophone

I'm sure some primitive aboriginal tribesman on some other continent has a "xylophone" made from human bones.... as well as the shrunken heads..... (wasn't that a group formed by aging rock fan psych-therapists???)...... I guess he has to "cannibalize" a few parts to make it work.... just like our PC's......ArkJack

That's good to hear. Now I expect you to write a song about "Sciatica", featuring a Xylobone. Make sure you hammer on those lower notes

Wanted to add my 2 cents about chiropractors...they are not all witch doctors like I thought they were. I found a good one and he did wonders for my lower back pain. It's amazing how many different pains in different areas of the body can actually have a root cause of spine misalignment.Get some referrals from people in your area, and then call the chiropractor and ask exactly what they do if you come in for a visit. Let them describe the process, and find one that doesn't crack your back like in the old days. If what they describe sounds comfortable to you, try it out. Now a days they will test the alignment of each disc in your spine and then use this little tool that applies a set amount of pressure (a very small thud, there is nothing violent about it like most people believe, or maybe that's how they used to be, I don't really know) at the right spots. I forget what the tool is called, but they will do that and also massage the right areas of your back and legs. It's worth considering, because like some other people have said, find the root cause instead of masking the pain and you'll be way better off.
