Nomi,Reason doesn't work exactly like other sequencers and is not as full featured as some other software you are used to.You may have to solo the sounds you want to hear on the instruments themselves. Redrum, for instance, has a little solo button on each of its channels. There are lots of audio routing possibilities in Reason that would allow more flexibility but are more complicated to set up.I suggest using Reason as a ReWire slave to your main sequencer. It's a fabulous synthesizing and sampling environment but the sequencing is not that great, IMO. For a laptop, mobile situation, it's pretty cool, but I never use it in the studio as a sequencer. There are tons of books and videos out on Reason. The manual is also quite good. Also, my wife recently took a class at CCSF specifically on using Reason. She hates to read manuals and learns better from a class so that worked for her. I bet one of the East Bay community colleges teaches a class in Reason.Good luck,Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!
