Score! My first film gig...

Post by bigbluebarry » Thu Jun 04, 2009 8:27 am

I wanted to share my excitement with everyone over here. I got the word yesterday that I will be scoring some original music for a documentary film. I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to our very own Lydia Ashton (Crystallions) for this opportunity. I will be assisting her on the film by providing some acoustic guitar music for a portion of the film. This will be the first time I've got to score a film before and I'm VERY excited about this! This will be taking up quite a bit of my time over the rest of this month as it's slated to be finished by the end of the month. I played around with some ideas last night just to get a feel for it. It's gonna be a blast! Thanks again to Lydia, as well and the producer (and indirectly TAXI for making this forum available which is how I met Lydia) for this opportunity!- Big Blue

It's a great experience to score a film.So cool that you connected via the forum too.Lots of success in the air!!Cheers!MazzThanks Mazz! It's been fun so far, even though I haven't really done much yet. Just basically got the video imported into Pro Tools and then set up some markers in regards to the cues that the producer had already mentioned. One thing I've already noticed is that I have to be even more mindful of creating an "emotion" within the music. It's definitely forcing me to stretch as a musician/composer and definitely giving me a new perspective on my approach to writing tracks for film and tv.- Big Blue
