I started/finished a collab with my 72 year old Dad today...he plays guitar and sings...am I allowed to post that here, or do I fall outside the entry criteria? I still need to do bass guitar tonight....I'm looking forward to hearing these tunes tomorrow when I have a sound-capable internet connection....

ok, here's the story on this "song",about a year ago i received my millionth return from the screeners, and was so damned pissed i wrote the following, virtually in an hour, using some of their comments, then added my views to make it make--uh, sense? of course, i sent it in as a kinda joke to a punk listing, knowing that someday i would rework the lyrics and make it relevant to somebody other than to me and taxi, and viola--ALL 3'S, which by the way was right on, however the screener almost got the point, saying "it sounds like you've had a bad experience with taxi somewhere." then went on to say "you DO have a hook, it's in the lines "This Song Has No Hook," well friggin' duh, my point was to try to at least give them some of the structure of a song, verse, chorus, hooky, etc. i will change the lyrics and redo this someday, because i think it's got some good stuff in there. ok it might be done loading by now, here's the lyrics:This Song Has No Hook #2Verse 1(Remember, after listening to your song, this is just our opinion...)I admit your first line makes me want to hear moreNot too bad a title but the verse is a boreEngaging, cohesive, sometimes rhymes wellBut in this condition it just won't sellAnd after a while it starts to sound the sameAnd about the refrainAbout that refrainAbout that refrain--Please refrainChorusIf you're really trying to pitch this here songGot to fix the chorus and the verse is too longPlease don't bore us, this isn't a bookOh by the way, this song has no hookBridge (final bridge to ending)This song has no hookThis song has no hookThis song has no hookThis song has no hookOh by the way, work on breath supportHah hah hahVerse 2It's my opinion if your goal is to sell this thingYou might need a bridge, and get someone else to singYou need a more confidant vocalCould use less fantasy and more real worldBut I can't ask you to change it, it's pretty uniqueBut the tune seems to lack that certain mistique http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=true

I don't think this is TOO lame... www.DaveWaltonMusic.com/MyMusic/TotalEgal.mp3It's a co-write with Jacqueline (van Bierk) so I hope I'm not cheating. I did the music bed, sent it to her, she wove in what I think is a great melody and wrote the lyrics to the music. Sent the vocals back to me where I dropped them in. A pure 50/50 contribution. This is a rocker I'm glad to be sitting in.

I'm nearing 47 but I intend to enter this contest a few years hence. Age has little to do with rocking out...just YouTube the latest Who footage for proof. Age will eventually affect your agility and your vocal power, but it need not affect your passion, songwriting or rock and roll heart.Rock on, kiddos!
