I also have had to deal with the HMRC this year because of my songwriting side hustle, I'll be honest I've not even attempted a tax return yet, it confuses the hell out of me

I think I have to do one this year, apparently PRS send a Tax Statment once you earn enough. I think they send it in May

I had to pay £2 to HMRC for what I made with music during the previous tax year lol

Must have been because of the expenses
