Re: She Must Be Heaven Sent - Critique please

Hey Carlos!Good to hear another song from the lab! It's a pretty good tune, especially for one sitting! Just a couple of things stick out for me that I'll share... I think the vox sits a little high in the mix, and the guitars sound a bit dated to me and need some more work to freshen up the sound and make it fuller. The biggest thing I noticed is that the verses and chorus have the exact same meter. I'd change up one or the other to give more contrast and interest to the track. There are some other good suggestions above too. Keep rockin!

Hey Carlos,Very nice production!! I was digging the doubled guitars in the 1st version till I saw the new link .... 2nd sounds more current.... I like a lot of what you have here... the bridge, main riff.... I think you need to vary your verse/chorus more... right now the melody is the same and it gives the song a drawn out feel... despite the great playing going on ....I would look for a different way to sing/play the verses... not a drastic change like the bridge, something inbetween.... Awesome for one session's work!!Peace, Geo

Hey Carlos, Thanks using some of the suggestions I posted. I did some additional snipping to illustrate exactly what I had in mind. It's nothing extreme and you can take it or leave it.I apologize for messing with your tune. That probably feels a little weird. But I like this song. http://www.prenticephoto.com/guitars/Sh ... PED.mp3BTW, I really like the drum sound. If you don't mind could you tell me what are you using? Currently, I'm using a human drummer but I think I'm ready to cross over to the dark side.I assuming those are sample drums. They sound too good to be live.Best,RandyThere is something about this that is really cool.

amp> Yeah I only did minimal vocal work on the restructure. I removed the harmonies in the bridge, retracked the second half of the bridge and copied/pasted a piece to the ending chorus. I suppose I could try a different melody but I am fond of both. Which in particular would you like to see change?iceman> aha I wondered about the blank space between the two opening verses. My girl seemed to be content with it but I thought there was a void and added a new solo riff. New being the operational phrase since the riff is played three times during the song. Actually I had backed up the verse-chorus without the full measure instrument "breath" in between and did not like it so much. It seemed rushed without the measure but perhaps it is because I am used to hearing it a particular way. I'll stitch it together the way you posted but I think it will lose length. I am trying to peg this one as close to 3:30 as possible.goto xlnaudio.com and dload the demo of Addictive drummer.goto groovemonkey.com and dload the free midi pack.enjoy the synth drummer and midi grooves then open your wallet to the tune of $550 or so for the full products and never look back. I had to learn MIDI and I am pretty comfy with it now. I have even created a drum map for my Roland DR880 and can use it as the master to trigger AD.
