Should I join Sync Academy?

They are both run by the same guy. I asked him the question on the sync academy side. So we can deduce that by either service, the guy is going to have the same opinion on this matter.

Actually if you've watched enough of his content he's never advocated against Taxi and accepts it works for some folks. What he is against is the scam companies that run fake listings.

One of his main instructors who owns a library runs Taxi Listings.

As I have said in my first post. I asked him the question and he responded on the webpage....not sure why this is hard to comprehend. He said he had a bad experience. On another occasion, he has put on the website that he does not recommend using third party sites ( not naming Taxi).

Have you even actually been a member of Sync Academy? You could learn a lot.

I see nothing wrong with helping other producers make educated decisions on how to learn the business..... I will tell you Michael is not up at night worried about Jesse or what Jesse is doing and Jesse is not up worried about Michael.....Two completely different things actually I would say they compliment each other.... I have not heard Jesse say anything negative about Taxi he has said many times it is not for him..... that does not make him an enemy of Taxi.... I have had an actual conversation with him where he has said people he knows had success with Taxi and he has always left it at research it yourself and make your own decision if it is right for you..... A smart politically correct position to take in this industry as you do not want to burn bridges..... So my point...... Taxi = Good. Sync Academy = Good. learn, grow, succeed use every tool available...... but at the end of the day write, record, submit and repeat both Michael and Jesse agree on that!

Just a side auestion here, Mark. If you aren't a Taxi member (You said you earned your dues), how is it that you are a member of the Taxi forum? Just curious. Hope you had a happy Christmas.

Nobody said anything about being an enemy. I was just being thoughtful for Taxi actually but sure go ahead and post what you like. It's kind of like going into a Subway restaurant with Taco Bell food. But yeah go ahead. Lol!!! I did say they weren't the exact same service. I just think it's wiser to talk about Taxi on the Taxi forum rather than Sync Academy. Let's just agree to disagree on what was said and leave it at that.

You never said were a member or anything about the SA forum. I was talking about what Jesse has said publicly on his YouTube channel over the years.

I'll have to sign back up to SA for the new content, and my old spot over on Feedback Corner.

Just a side auestion here, Mark. If you aren't a Taxi member (You said you earned your dues), how is it that you are a member of the Taxi forum? Just curious.

I was in a member for a few months and binged on a lot of content. One thing I liked about it was their version of the peer-to-peer in which they ask you to critique 3 works of other members for every one of your works that you post for feedback. That's a great policy because it gets some people off the sidelines and makes it a more give and take process. I did find that with some of the music posted for critiques, it wouldn't get the criticism it needed when warranted; just a lot of "sounds great dude!" when there were obvious flaws like drums that were way off the grid, or the song was a structural mess for example.

I was mainly interested in the rock music production courses and I got a lot out of them. But they tend to focus on using virtual guitars through amp sims, and I can't say that approach impressed me very much. I know some fine people who don't play guitar and do very well with this approach-- but as a guitarist seeing this as the primary method in that course was a bit of a letdown.

Eventually, I had to tighten up my finances and decided to cut out as many revolving charge memberships as I could to help my budget. I'll probably join back up in the future. Lots of great material there.

Thank you for the comments, Ted. I'm going to dive in and see if it helps, for a few months at least to decide if it's worth the monthly fee. So far, so good!
