signed library contract September-songs still not on website
Hello,
Signed 4 songs exclusively to a music library back in September 2013. called owner at beginning of this month (Jan), he said he appreciated the call giving him a push. my call was more friendly than that and just checking he had received all the tracks and mixes OK, I figure he's pretty busy.
tracks are still not up on his website meaning there is no chance the songs can get placed.
Is this a normal time frame for tracks to be made available for licensing after signing? Don't want to feel tracks are languishing on his hard drive when they could be out earning their living!!
any thoughts much appreciated
Pepe

Re: signed library contract September-songs still not on web
Many libraries market tracks by methods other than just putting them on a website. I can't really say without knowing more about the library (Don't say their name). So, the fact that the tracks are not visible on a website does not *NECESSARILY* mean they aren't already being pitched. For example, some libraries mail out hard drives or CDs with tracks to clients or even email mp3s per specific requests.pepeluis wrote:Hello,

Things can move pretty slowly in this business. Since you just called him recently, I would wait at least a few weeks (so you're not being a pain) and check in with him again, asking about the tracks being on the website.
Best of luck,

Hi Casey and others.
many thanks for your response. Makes sense what you say so I shouldn't assume if tracks are not on website they are not being pitched. I will get back in touch with the library again but as you advise, `avoid being a pain!`I like the guy and want to keep things on a good level.
much appreciated.

No harm in checking in, but this is not an unusually slow time frame in my experience.
Best of luck with the tracks!

Thanks for asking this question because I am in a similar situation, except mine is only since around November. I have written a couple quick 'checking in' emails about 6 weeks apart, and didn't get answers to either. I've decided to just not be pesky about it , but it is a bit unnerving. My plan is to just forget about it until something happens.
thnx

Hi Jonny, thanks for your response.
Yes you are right it is unnerving. I am also trying to get a response to another question to this same library owner regarding whether I can put tracks signed to him on my website as examples of my work (would direct any enquiries about them to him obviously). I have not had an answer about this either.
I will be calling him about that which gives me a reason to mention about the tracks lack of presence on his site. He is very approachable so should not be a problem.
Judging by thoughts kindly offered by other forum users this is not an inordinate time frame so if I can't get an answer I too will just have to leave it and see.
I watched a Taxi TV interview with a library owner (can't remember name) but some of his words stuck with me, something like, write em, submit em , forget em!! he suggested that the time taken pursuing (he referred to unpaid royalties) could be better used just writing another piece.
best of luck
