Some Advice from Riders, please

Post by wignelson » Tue Aug 05, 2008 9:32 am

Hey, fellow Riders,Here's my quest and question. I have this song called Get There, which I submitted in Contemporary Christian, but it could be a pop song, too.I have added new drums from Ian Sproul in Australia and backup vocals by Jennifer Nelson in California. (I live in Florida)If my submission doesn't get forwarded, do you think I should resubmit the song to the present Contemporary Christian listing. It may be the same one I submitted to, and I might get the same screener. Talk about wasting a potential $5.00!The screener might say, been there, head that. Here are the lyrics and the link to Songramp:http://www.songramp.com/mod/mps/viewpri ... ckid=53265 “Get There” By Louis E. Nelson c. 2008 (1st Verse)Within a room of players - she had an angel’s faceAnd she passed the guitar over to the next to take her placeHis hands laid down a melody on the golden strings that rangAnd one by one they all began and this is what they sang, they said I’m gonna’(Chorus)Get there . . . yes, I’ll get there . . . I know I’ll get there in time. Yes, I’m gonna’ get there . . . I know I’ll get there . . . I know I’ll get there in time.(Refrain)It was like they opened up a door, and that I would be back for moreI knew what I was looking for was thereForgive the ones who’ve done you wrong, He teaches peace and walks alongAnd you can thank him for the song He shares, all you gotta’ do is(Chorus)Get there . . . yes, get there . . . all you gotta’ do is get there . . . get there in timeYes you’ll get there . . . I know you’re gonna get there . . . you will get there You’ll get there in time(2nd Verse)I opened up my eyes and I’d been sleeping in my bedAnd all at once was sorry it had all been in my headBut long before the sorrow brought a teardrop to my eyesI realized that he who walks beside Him never dies, and I know I’m gonna”(Chorus)Get there . . yes, I’ll get there . . . I know I’ll get there in time . . . I know I’m gonna’ get there . . . yes, I’ll get there . . . I know I’ll get there in time.(3rd Verse)I looked across the water and the sky was burning downI saw the children crying but I could not hear a soundI prayed for a messiah that he help me understandHe said I cannot love them fore I don’t live in their land, but he said I gotta’(Chorus)Get there . . . yes, get there . . . I know I’ll get there . . . I’ll get there in time (Closing Phrase: You know we’re gonna’ get there in time)

Hi Louis,I say submit if you think it's right for the listing. The screeners are screening based on the listing and even if it's the same screener, they could return the song as not right for one listing and turn around and forward it for the other. Just because you've submitted the song for a listing, don't put it "on hold". If it's right for other listings, submit it there too. This is a numbers game, the more you submit, the better your chances. Of course, to reiterate, you'll have better chances if you submit to listings that you think your song fits.Hope this helps.Mazz

Hi Wig,Like Mazz said, just keep tossing it out there and it'll find a home based on it's relevant merits. This place is sort of reminds me of Vegas, you gotta spread your money and talent around and play the odds on lots of different tables. Just because one table isn't paying out, doesn't mean it won't pay out later. Eventually, you'll hit the jackpot! Now, if only TAXI offered comped rooms and meals to keep you sticking around when you're losing!Good song! Keep up the great work!
