Some more forwards this month, several genres

Post by Paulie » Tue May 17, 2016 12:05 pm

U160421TU - TENSION-BASED UNDERSCORE: Bad News

U160416GI - REFLECTIVE ACOUSTIC GUITAR: Rosas
My first collab with a Taxi member right here in San Antonio with me, Larry Magee on guitar. He performed the guitar parts, I added the rest.

Y160413ME - MINIMALISTIC, ELECTRONIC: Seeing Spots

D160419FI - 1970’s INSPIRED, FUNKY RETRO: Flip Side
This was a previous Return that I edited based on the feedback. I also added real drums to double the basic funk drum groove. Real bass drum, snare and hi-hat (I need to build up my endurance again... carpal tunnel prevents me from holding the sticks too long).

I also recycled two Muzak tracks that were forwarded to a non-exclusive listing last year that I never heard back about.

So for those counting, four of the six above were former Returns that I tweaked and resubmitted. Try to learn from the screener feedback, keep everything you ever record, and tweak for new listings! The more you write, the larger your library becomes. Before you know it you will have a lot of tracks to choose from that just need minor editing to meet a new listing need. That's working smarter, and faster. My mantra: Write, Submit, REMIX, Repeat.

This makes me 17 of 34 so far for my Taxi Year #2. :)

Congrats on the forwards.
Great advice for us taxi newbies. I will certainly keep that in mind. I already have put the idea of using the feedback to tweak and resubmit into my repertoire.

I hope your endurance improves.
Cheers,
Tim

Cool bunch of tracks, Paulie! And nice genre-hopping, too! Getting your Bootsy on with the funk!

Re: repurposing old tracks, +1! And since getting the right SOUND is often part of this gig, I'm also into making DAW session templates out of old tracks that already have the sound I'm looking for. Another way of working faster and smarter :)

Keep it up!

Wow, Paulie, these are great sounding tracks (I especially loved the funk!) and artfully produced. You are one versatile artist! Congratulations.
