Sonar Vs Reaper

I'm learning both. I find it's much much much eaiser to set up in Reaper. It's easy to follow and understand where things are comming in, what they are going through and were they come out.I'm still having difficutly in understanding these issues in Sonar. Right now I cant figure out why I'm getting a latency from my soft synth. I dont have this issue with Reaper. Now I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, but for the life of me and what hair I got left I cant figure out how to get this working with Sonar.My feeling after a week of working with both programs, Reaper is far eaiser to get up and running. It is a better program for final mix. However, Sonar is by far the more complete program and will do alot more Midi things, which I need. Thus I will keep at it, losing my hair, grinding my teeth. I'm sure one day, before I die, I will understand the "Sonar" way.

Generally under Options->Audio and then the "General" and "Advanced" tabs of that dialog box, you'll find the selections for working with your sound card and setting your latency. I know that each soundcard is different so it's not a standard thing I can tell you.My card is an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 that uses ASIO drivers. I get low latency (not even perceptible) and good performance.One thing I've discovered too is that the Sonar forum is usually nothing short of amazing with respect to answering questions. It's been a while but any questions I've posted there got answered within something like 15 minutes.HTH,Dave

Thanks Dave...I'll start posting over there....I finally got the latency issue resolved. I know how to set it up, I can look at, I can make it work, it makes absolutley zero sense to me why it works the way it does, but I dont care as long as I can get it to work. I figure, someday in the far distant future it will make sense to me.

Hey Hotjams,Quick question, what can you do in SONAR (midi wise) that you can't do in Reaper?Take CareB

Sonar has better midi editing tools. I think Sonar might have better loop constrution and functions.
