Songbird at Sunrise

Songbird at SunriseMy drapes were thick and drawnI almost missed the dawnwith its watercolor viewthen a soothing sound snuck inand whistles of the midnight windbowed to morning and withdrewI awoke and saw roses glistenthankful they'd been christenedbut dawn's sweet and cleansing dewand the songbird at sunriseis perched upon a high linehis soft and simple callseems to reach the distant skylineshadow can be a shelterwhere we hide our weary eyesbut those shadows disappearand hope shines when I hearthe songbird at sunrisethere's sorrow in his wingsas he sits there and singsfor a love lost to the skyyet there's comfort in his song'cause his faith and heart are strongand he'd sooner rhyme his sadness than cryif he lost his one and onlyand he's found light though he's lonelythen somehow...so can Iand the songbird at sunriseis perched upon a high linehis soft and simple callseems to reach the distant skylineshadow can be a shelterwhere we hide our weary eyesbut those shadows disappearand hope shines when I hearthe songbird at sunriseI learned from his tune, that morning will nurtureone who's lost love too soon, and yet remains a searcherand the songbird at sunriseis perched upon a high linehis soft and simple callseems to reach the distant skylineshadow can be a shelterwhere we hide our weary eyesbut those shadows disappearand hope shines when I hearthe songbird at sunrise(c)2005 Robert George
