I'm the odd man out here because my older stuff that I liked, I still like. The stuff I didn't like, I still don't like.Being prolific and making music that crosses over genres puts me in a position where I simply don't get bored with my music if it's good (key phrase here). Good music is timeless and that's what I'm looking to make. If I don't dig my own stuff, then it's pretty pointless, IMHO, to make it.In addition, there's a difference with being a singer/songwriter and producer/songwriter. If I had to sing those songs night in and night out, they'd get on my nerves. Wouldn't make them any less good, but repetition of that caliber will annoy just about anyone.Growing in terms of having a better ear is more likely to be the reason. Once our ears are trained to hear and know good songs, when we go back and listen to what we thought was good back in the day, we find it was...well...not so good because our ears and experience has told us otherwise. My suggestion would be to just try and rework the song in a whole new direction. New instrumentation, new vocals, etc. Infuse some life into it that way. That just might be the ticket.God bless.

Bite the bullet. Rehearse the new stuff like crazy, and sing it. If you're not feelin' it the audience will know. And the thing you fear to do is the thing you need to do.
