Can a song be submitted to soundclick without contaminating its rights if it is also on taxi?

if it's your song you can post it anywhere you like.

My point is: will the taxi music companies be less interested in the song if it has been spread all over the universe on soundclick?

I have heard that if you are pitching songs to artists, perhaps they'd prefer if a song hasn't been commercially released or exposed too much. I haven't heard of anyone losing a deal because of that... but that's what I've heard. (However, although I know a huge number of songwriter/composers, I don't know one songwriter who has had a song cut by a major artist. Although I've spoken with John Braheny and Ralph Murphy, I never asked them what they think about posting songs on-line in this situation.)

IMO soundclick is probably really low on their radar.

However, if you are concerned, it might be an idea to check with TAXI.

I've had zero negative consequences from using SoundClick.

In today's online world, it's almost a given that a songwriter will have their songs uploaded on some website. I'm sure that writers who work regularly (or exclusively) with publishers or libraries don't really need that exposure, but for the rest of us, it's almost a necessity.

As Vikki said, sites like Soundclick don't make a lot of noise and most publishers know that writers use those "musician friendly" sites as a place to allow not just fans but music reps to listen to their songs.

With that said if you're site is getting a million hits a day, then you might run into a bit of an obstacle with a publisher, but at a million hits, who needs them anyways... ;)

Gusgave is so right on the money!!! Just for a bit of perspective, I made a video of one of my songs. I advertised it on youtube, it got over 120,000 impressions but only 122 watched the video, some of the watches were before and after the promotion. my rate was something like .06%. Yes I am old and tired looking, so that might have made all the difference in the world, but the point is not whether you are good or not but if you can convince someone to take the time and listen. That's sort of the point with Taxi, you have the connections to the right people through them. And my guess is that if you get 10,000 or more listens, you will probably wonder how the record companies found YOU!!! Just sayin'!!

If it's a hit song and tons of people are going to buy it and go to the artists concert to hear the song live, I don't think an artist or record company will really care whether you posted it originally on soundclick.

Building a fan base is a requirement for most artists looking to move to the next level, so in this case having an on-line presence that's "popular" is all good if you're submitting as an artist through Taxi.

If the song is targeted for use in film/TV, the contract with the eventual publisher will specify how much "personal use" you are allowed to indulge in. Some tell you to yank it off the website(s), others say it's OK to keep it on a webpage, and even sell it on iTunes. Each contract is different.

I don't know if it's good or bad for an artist pitch through Taxi. My strategy would be to use on-line services like SC for artist pitches too, as it's important feedback in the process of writing better songs.

My (very limited experience) $0.02 is to promote the heck out of everything you deem marketable, and immediately & joyfully remove it if someone with the right $$ asks you to do so.

Full speed ahead!
