About blank leaders... this isn't tape. no need for leaders on digital submissions.
when I render or export a song from my DAW, I will make sure to have silence before and after the audio. But then I open that file in an editor (like SoundForge or WaveLab) and zoom in on the audio both in the vertical and horizontal axis, then I cut the silence from the beginning about 50 - 100 ms before the audio. Then I do the same at the end after reverb tails. this way I am sure to have ALL of the audio. Submitting a file that is truncated at the beginning or end because of sloppy DAW exporting, or having too much silence at the beginning is unprofessional and will put your product in a bad light.
