silvercord,Well, here's an overview...My favorite place in SK was definitely Itaewon. It meant we were home and safe -- no missile-lock, no flying in hellish weather, etc...I used to hang out at a bar in one of the alleys down the hill, called the White Rose. It was a small, cozy place and the girls who worked there were very sweet and appreciative of our presesnce -- which as you probably know, was not always a given.Next, I liked the area around Camp Casey, up north. I forget the name of the town. We spent one week each month up there on 24/7 medevac and were almost always busy. It was being busy that kept us going. After a few months, you miss the good ol' USA terribly, but you don't talk much about it. You just find a way to deal with being away from home.It was rewarding in the sense that I helped get a good number of moms-in-labor to the hospital in time; restarted an unbeating heart and helped save a few soldiers -- who got the infamous 'Dear John' letters... Yeah, attempted suicides by our own were one of our most common missions. I saw it happen to two of my best friends.It was an experience I'll never forget. No, much of it wasn't pretty, but I cherish those friendships I made and the entire experience. I wouldn't trade it for anything...If I ever choose to write songs about being in the military and away from home, I've got tons of tinder!Best wishes,Ron
