Cardell-

Stuart,

Thanks for the welcome! I went and listened to the "Surfer" Really a smooth guitar part. My favorite movie is Pulp Fiction, So I thought the surf guitar was very cool!

In good music,

Stephen,

Not only did I "listen" to all those songs.... I TOOK NOTES! LOL!
Guess it's a teacher thing! HAHA!

You know, I taught songwriting at Rogers State back in the 80s when they had the Hank Thompson School of Country Music. I had the privilege of teaching with Leon McAuliffe and Eldon Shamblin (before they passed on). We also did some TV shows together there at the college TV station. I have some songs that I'd like to have an Eldon Shamblin style of guitar on. But ... I do not play guitar. :(

Yes, anytime you come up to the lake, you need to stop by! If you go to the turnpike then take the Adair exit, you will end up going right by where I live! I don't have a fancy setup, but do have a place to plug in guitars, and I do have mics.

We have bad weather coming the next couple of days, I think. So I will be unplugging my sound equipment if/when it comes by me! :o

Talk to you soon. :P

Suezq-

Sue,

Eldon Shamblin's guitar work is amazing. Rolling Stone referred to him as "The Best Rythem Guitar Player in the World" at one point in his career, i think during his stint as a "Texas Playboy." The thing that made him unique is the way he uses a smooth bass with his thumb while picking up the rest of the chord with his fingers. I will try to pick up some of his technique and would love to help out if you need it. I have a feeling this spring/summer I will have some time to be over that direction. Thanks for the reply and look forward to meeting you!

In good music,
