Still Shaking Head in Disgust and Contempt

Post by southpaw » Sat Aug 22, 2009 2:08 pm

At Scotland, Kenny Mac-Askill, and all others in a position of power that allowed this to happen. http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2321499/postsI am also very much dissappointed in Obama and his Administration. All in all, if in fact there was NO strings he could pull-within his power to prevent from this disgrace from happening.... Then surely he could have at least assured that the arrival in Tripoli wasnt the triumphant return of a heroic marder? The dillusional supporters of the mass-murderer have undoubtedly taken this as a symbolic victory. The destructive message of this event is terrible for every just country in the world.Politics are devisive, and i generally have little concern with this stuff. I am simply disgusted, still, that this has happened. Alright, im done ranting for now.Jamie

I wonder what 'compassionate grounds' the victims and their families get? This is wrong on so many levels.Scott

No one should celebrate murder. I dont know if he was greeted as someone wrongly convicted and freed. If they were celebrating the return of a murderer then that is unacceptable. There is some doubt that they got the right man. The bomb detonator fragment found pointed to someone else. Many think it was an iranian reprisal for the US accidently blowing up an iranian domestic flight.Other more conspriracy led theories point to a leading aids scientist who claimed he was close to a cure was also on that flight.I dont think we will ever find out 100%Thoughts go to all the families missing loved ones.

They negotiate between themselves for the best possible outcome to suit their countries' interests (be it trade, security, etc), and THEN sell the decision to their people the best way they can. It's not justice, but it's life, and my heart goes out to all.

Interesting link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/8211596.stmMakes me wonder if they know he did not do it and dont want to take the risk that the truth comes out at some point. If the truth comes out then locking him up till he dies would not be seen in the best light.Pity Colombo was not sent out to tie up the loose ends. He'll be facing the big court soon. Pity we will never know the outcome.peace

I don't see a reason to get my panties in a wad, here; the business of America is business, right? These things happen for a reason, often any number of reasons, and seldom the reasons stated. Scots taxpayers needn't pay for his end-of-life care, Scotland probably gets some trade benefit, Qaddaffi can play cock-of-the-walk, and there's substantial evidence he wasn't the right guy to begin with, merely an inconvenient political prisoner of Libya. I'll save my indignation for the people who intend to kill tens of thousands of Americans, the ones shilling for insurance companies on Capitol Hill.

"Four hundred parents lost a child, 46 parents lost their only child, 65 women were widowed, 11 men lost their wives, 140 [people] lost a parent, seven lost both parents."-- Scottish prosecutor Colin Boyd at the 2001 trial of Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi. Above is the reason to get our "panties in a wad". Justice wasn't served in this case. Either a murderer was released or the real culprits have not been found and the trail is covered in murky double dealings between corrupt politicians and corrupt business men in the name of turning a buck.Derek

Sorry, forgot to add the sarcasm emoticon. I'm not happy about the situation, or rather I'm pretty sure I'd be unhappy if I knew what the situation actually is. Certainly the families of the Pan Am victims were wronged, yet the effect of their loss is little different (to them) than if the plane had crashed randomly-in fact it was random murder, since there was apparently no specific target on the aircraft. I have grown to accept that justice is relatively rare in this world of ours, and find it faintly ridiculous that otherwise reasonably intelligent people can believe that if they live right, do all the right things, worship in the right church, they'll somehow have lives untouched by tragedy. Tragedy happens, and this one is twenty years old.I'm ready to move on, but if you're not, that's okay with me.
