Stockings on the StaircaseI get home a few minutes after fiveHer Jetta’s already in the driveLeave my work boots there by the doorLook around and wonder what’s in storeSometimes she’s got a cold one waitin’ for meCool as that is I get fevered when I seeStockings on the staircaseAnd that’s where passion startsHigh heels in the hallwayThat tease my hungry heartRibbon on the carpetDesire in the airStockings on the staircaseWill always lead me thereMusic’s low and the shades are drawnCandles shimmer and the shower’s onMy mind’s eye slices through the steamStealing looks at the lady of my dreamsCos she wears soft shadows like negligeesHer invitation says more than laceStockings on the staircaseAnd that’s where passion startsHigh heels in the hallwayThat tease my hungry heartSoft dress by the bedsideDesire in the airStockings on the staircaseWill always lead me thereCandles flicker low as I hold her in the nightSomething lights them again and that’s the sight ofStockings on the staircaseAnd that’s where passion startsHigh heels in the hallwayThat tease my hungry heartWhispers in the darknessDesire in the airStockings on the staircaseWill always lead me there©2007 Robert George

Ok Robert, you did it again. This is a modern-day, "Behind Closed Doors." Perfect contemporary country lyric form. With the right music, this would be a no-brainer-undeniable for Alan Jackson -- even Josh Turner. bc
