Re: straight 9s and a Forward (thks 277)
I joined Taxi in June of 2004. In the last few months, I have had more forwards than I did for the first 3 years of my membership. I learned from many many sources over the course of those first years in terms of songwriting and composition and what commercially viable really means, but I think it was my attendance at the Road Rallys that really helped open my eyes. The Rally helped me see very clearly where I was in my development, and I saw that I had to learn certain specific skills, and then I set out to learn them. I also set out/saved up/had (and still have) a wish list... so I could get the tools to make the music I knew was in me.... and practice with them every day, and struggle to learn how to produce my ideas effectively. Through some rather helpful synchronicity, I got a major graphic design project in December 2006 (after my second Rally) that, curiously enough, paid EXACTLY the amount I needed to buy the Custom Audio Computer I am typing this on.... in order to 'drive' my EWQLSO Silver orchestra program. I've been slowly adding to my tools since then and have struggled to understand (anyone remember my difficulties with vocals and mics, ha ha) how to use VIs, record live instruments & vocals, and mix / produce. So I guess what you are seeing now is simply the result of putting one foot in front of the other, and striving to grow beyond where I am. Without the extremely valuable contributions of many members of this forum to my learning process, I don't think I would be this far along. I am very grateful to Taxi and all the 'Dots' for their continued encouragement, support, honest feedback, and, most of all, friendship.hugsHummin'bird
