I like EZ Drummer a lot because of the MIDI patterns. I think that they are very well played (and there are 3rd party loops available as well) and I like to have the basics of a part at my fingertips and then tweak from there rather than try to program a part from scratch. It saves me time. I will mess with fills and add cymbal crashes and so forth, always starting with the basic MIDI loops. It takes a bit of time to find the right groove but it still takes less time for me overall than programming from scratch.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Has anyone used Addictive Drums? I liked their demo. I'm on the fence between EZ drummer and addictive drums & could sure use some input. -billg

Billg,I haven't used Addictive Drums but I have used EZ drummer quite a bit. After perusing the Addictive Drums website I think that technically the difference between the two is that Addictive Drums has effects and EZ drummer does not at this time. One of the expansion sets for EZ drummer has some effects in it, though. One can route the outputs of the different mics in EZ drummer to inputs in the host and add effects there if desired. It appears that EZ drummer offers the expansion packs and has more MIDI grooves out of the box.I think you can't go wrong with either, what matters is if you like the sounds or not. From what I've heard of the Addictive Drums demo tracks, it sounds in the same league with EZ drummer sonically.EZ drummer is less expensive, probably because it doesn't have effects.Hope this helps a little,Mazz

Thanks Mazz. I don't really care about the effects. It seems hard to find anyone who has something negative to say about EZ drummer and not many who have used Addictive drums (yet). Since I'm all about saving a few bucks when I can I guess EZ is the way to go. Thanks again -billg

Hey BillG,If you're looking to save a few bucks on EZDrummer, I just ordered it from audioMidi.com for $145 which seems to be a few dollars cheaper than most other places (it's sold out at Musician's Friend and it is $159 at sweetwater).
