Stuck In The Mud

Post by leavinghope » Sat Mar 09, 2013 9:51 am

Hey there guys. I'm a fairly new Taxi member. I have been apart of it a few years back and then I let it run out. Then just last month, I signed back up again. I have been chasing the dream for at least 15 years now. Lately, I've gotten myself involved in a pretty serious relationship of 4 years. Of course, at this point, marriage comes up (by her) at least every 2 weeks. Then of course you get the 'not ready' talk. I'm the one not ready. I always wanted to wait to get married until I had some success in the music industry. In my mind, why do that to someone you love? She's expecting to be taken cared of and I know I'm not going to be truly happy unless I chase music success into the grave. I'm not ready to get off the mountain to settle for a valley or flatland.

All this and more really gets me down on my musical creativity. It gets to the point where I just avoid writing or working on music all together because there's a little bit of hopelessness attached to it. Like a tree that never grows fruit. Or a flower that never blossoms. So why water it? You know?

The reason for this long, rather personal story is a question. Does anyone else out there in taxi forum land ever have these troubles? Anyone else get some hopeless thoughts concerning their music? What do you do to motivate yourself? What do you do get the right mind about it all that you get some success from it? I'd really appreciate the help and would be grateful for some answers.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend too. Thank you for reading this.
