André (bubbles)I have to say, every time I read anything you post now, I get all goofy & happy inside. thx Re: my previous post about Stylus Stylus is the best all purpose drum soft-synth there is, IMHO. And that price is an unbelievable, heck of a deal.

The thing about Stylus is that it always has "the sound" nailed. Then it randomizes the patterns, which means you don't hear yourself coming and going as much as you would if you use regular loops.I personally don't use loops of any kind if I can help it - especially not drum parts, which I'd much rather just play in from KAT pads or from the keyboard - but I have used Stylus for commercial stuff. It's very clever.

Quote:Great posts from everybody. Dave, yeah I did get that email. I just had in mind that RMX and Backbeat were what I needed, with no thought of any other expander. So even though it's only $99, I have to still consider that. But in the long run, I think I'll be glad I spent it/sorry I didn't. It's also the fact that I just got the RMX and you don't want to get "overwhelmed" by having too many choices right away. But those grooves will never go out of style, I think. The grooves will probably be valid for a long time given the flexibility of the editing and FX in Stylus (and the creativity of the user, of course! ). I'm sure that will only be enhanced by what is certain to be an update/upgrade early next year.Mazz

Okay, my ignorance is showing through... is stylus a plug in for Logic/GarageBand/Protools/ etc.? Looking at the Spectrasonics.net site it was hard to tell. It looked like it worked as a stand alone, but I couldn't tell how it interfaces with a standard Digital Audio Workstation. It is obviously more than simply a collection of quality loops, but I was hoping someone could help clarify. Thanks from the noob...

Yeah it's a Virtual Instrument that runs as a plugin inside your DAW app.It comes with an (expandable) collection of excellent loops which you can manipulate in a number of groundbreaking ways, and the whole thing is extremely user friendly to boot.

It will change the way you work and open up a ginormous amount of possibilities with your rhythm tracks. I literally don't start a song without popping that baby up.With the current offer to new users, I would grab all the expanders. It is a doggone steal!!!I can't say enough good things about Spectrasonics! As my friend Matt said to me recently, Eric Persing is the best sound designer on the planet! No need to hesitate on this one. BUY BUY BUY!Best,Cisco

Yeah, Stylus is pretty sick. I'm finally going to spring for all the expanders. I've used most of them in AKAI sample format coverted to EXS in Logic for years, but to have them that quick and easy in RMX will really speed up the instrumental track production.
