Superstarr and Hello Texas
Hello to my esteemed co-artists.
I have a couple of songs that I really need help in seeing if they are going in the right direction.
If you have a moment, could you please do a quick review of Superstarr and Hello Texas from this link

Thanks in advance for your time and kindness. I will be happy to review anyone's material.

Dosey;
Geezzz! It's been a long time since I've been "esteemed" by anyone besides my cats. And frankly, their esteem comes and goes.
I liked both tunes you referenced. The first sounded very "honkey-tonk", the second sounded traditional country. Your voice came out much nicer in the second song. Gotta say, you have a real talent for lyrics! Some really clever lines.

Re: Superstarr and Hello Texas
Ok, I stalked you OTT.
And here's where it gets cheesy. The first tape I ever bought was Blondie's "Parallel Lines" at some K-Mart while my dad looked at me like "Sheesh kid, you going to make me buy this in public?"
I Gotta say "I want my virginity back" sounds a lot like Blondie back in the 70s but in a good way.

Dosey!
I loved Blondie! The weird thing here is that my production company said they'd do the "Virginity" song in an April Lavigne vibe. And the recording was done only a few months ago, in LA, by a very contemporarary production company. So far, your reaction reflects the Taxi screener's reactions. They hear an 80's vibe. Anyway, you took the time to go "stalk "one of my tunes, and I didn't even ask. I appreciate it. You keep doing that on these forums, and you will be very popular here. Thanks for taking the time!
And to those reading this thread -- listen to this guy's stuff -- he'll obviously take the time to listen to yours.

Reviews From Garage Band
Not that they know more than Taxi, just more active.
A Botox Queen!
Fun Track!
When the track first started I thought I was listening to a kind of rough vocal/guitar demo.
Then the band kicks in and things changed. The vocal solo sounded a little weak, but in the context of the overall track and with the harmonies it was right at home. The slow section bothered me at first but then I decided that I liked it. I guess y'all got a mind changin' kind of song here. Let's see what else...Love the slide guitar, nicely played, it totally enhances the mood of the song. The lyrics, especially the first half of the song are hilarious. The subject has been written about hundreds of times but you still kept it fresh. so yeehah and right on!
Cymbal banging monkey...
This is an interesting intro. Some silly lyrics, but really fun honky-tonk groove. It has some quirky segways, with the groove abruptly breaking for the break, but it works for the song, with some truly nice piano work and slide. I didnt' turn opn to the vocals immediately, but as the song progresses I'm sure I'm liking the sturucture. Original tune in a tired genre. Bravo...
An Upbeat Energizing Song
I really like the raw mix style. Not sure the hum at the start in the right channel was intentional? A lot of instrumentation going on, but it worked well. Confident classic singer. Nice dueling going on with the lead guitar. Enjoyed the pitch of the backing vocals too. Perhaps a more natural honky tonk piano tone would add to the live feel.
Good spread of the elements in the mix. Definitely a present sound, not too much reverb. An enjoyable song.
Honky Tonk For Sure
Honky tonk is the first thing to come to mind. The production is done well in this upbeat song. The lyrics are unique and sung with enthusiasm. The rhythm is held togeather tightly and the keys fill in just right. This is a fun honky tonk song with all that is needed to get a crowd going in the right direction. A Hank Jr. style done in the true tradition. This band should be proud of this song and continue to do more. I'm proud the be an onkie with a stogie.

A little country rock song here. It's got a very infectious groove. I'm here tapping my toe and I just can't stop it!
Yeah, this song rocks. I don't even like country music, but this has a great alt-country sound, which I can dig.
Vocals are good. I really like how they harmonize throughout.
The lyrics are good as well, it's a love song but you take a little different angle.
Who do you sound like? It reminds me of Uncle Tupelo and Wilco.
The guitar work, I must say, is excellent. I love all the slides, it sounds just perfect. Yeah, I think this is a 5 star tune.

Very natural, authentic, and "unproduced" sounding stuff, I really like it! If your intentions are just to promote your own art these tracks work great. If you are thinking about something beyond that you'll probably need to spruce up the production values to meet expectations.
For what it's worth, I'd buy a record with these songs sounding just the way they are-

Hey Bill,
Just listened to "Old Kirkwood". Man you have a great voice, that song fit the mood I'm in currently.
My intention was definitely to just promote the tracks. Many thanks for taking the time for feedback.

Your lyrics are awesome! I think you're a great writer. I think you do need better productions though.

Hi Dorothy,
I rocked out to Autmo Joe. Your voice comes through very well. Looking forward to listening to the rest of your tracks.

Hey Dosey,
Welcome to the forum.
Well I lived in Texas for a long time (Dallas and Austin) and I like Jimmy Buffet's song with the same title from Urban Cowboy, so I listened to Hello Texas ..
good song .. good lyric ... like your vox ..
i see it is just a demo, so you know the production could be better .. but it works as is.
You might like my song DANCIN' WITH PRETTY GIRLS ... I used your screen name in the lyric .. it streams on this page
