Sweet Sissy...it's time…for you to go__;And Sweet Sissy I want you to know__...I love__...you so__!VerseA few years later and not sure what to do;Stuck in the middle…with so much to loseShe asked her daddy…if everything would be fine; Then he told her…one more time.ChorusSweet Sissy...please don't cry.Sweet Sissy...dry your eyes__. Sweet Sissy...it's time…for you to go__;And Sweet Sissy I want you to know__...I love__...you so__!Bridge or TagShe said it's been…10 years ago…on this day;And these were the last words…he had to__ say!ChorusSweet Sissy...please don't cry.Sweet Sissy...dry your eyes__.Sweet Sissy...it's time…for me to go__;And Sweet Sissy I want you to know__.Sweet Sissy... Hey Shawn,Nice tune. Like your vox on this. Is that you singing or is that Clint? What are your goals for the song .. are you pitching it to country artists, film-tv, just for fun? That would help me make more targeted comments. One thing that I think would improve the song is if the second verse weren't so general. I'd try to get real specific there .. what is the situation .. what does she have to lose and why. Country songs (and maybe all songs) are usually better when we can connect the listener to a real situation that they can relate to, imo. Thanks for sharing this tune. Come over and post more and give your comments on other peoples songs.Dean

Hi Shawn. I can't listen to your tune from work, but wanted to mention that if you're pitching it to country artists there's a recent Alan Jackson song out called Sissy's Song. It's not the same as yours but it's possible that the similarity in the use of names in the title might make it more difficult to pitch at this time. Just some food for thought.

Thanks for the responses. I would definitely love to have a well known artist to sing this one. Clint does have an awesome voice; and I do believe he will be signed sometime soon. I had a DJ play the Hick song that I have and also my Sweet Sissy the other night in a big bar. The crowd absolutely loved both of them. If you haven't listened to The Hick Out Of Me; click on my site! Plus I think Alan should of named his song "Don't worry about me"!Thanks Shawn www.myspace.com/shawnwhite88

Re: Sweet Sissy (Country)
Shawn,Solid tune! My thoughts:You did a great job of reinforcing your hook and the alliteration of "Sweet Sissy" works nicely. The AJ "Sissy" connection that Adrienne mentioned is a concern.Clint's pronunciation of "towards" was weird to me.I didn't understand what was going on in second verse. I lost the story there. Was she being proposed to? It wasn't clear. The perspective changes in the bridge by quoting her in the present. Stick to same tense as the verses? The death-bed story at the end is touching, but could be considered cliche. The whole song is very similar to "Cowboys Don't Cry" story. Hope this helps. Thanks for sharing your music!Derek

Very nice. You have a nice voice and the song is very real. I can feel it in the vocal performance and the lyrics. It's not especially original. This topic has been done many, many times, and it just comes down to saying it differently. And I think you did that however I definitely agree that AJ "Sissy's Song" is a concern if pitching now. So I would either work on changing the title or put this away and go write the next one. And maybe in five years pitch this one.Andy

Re: Sweet Sissy (Country)
Thanks everyone for the info!! I think I will redo the 2nd verse but I was kinda in a hurry to get this one to Clint. Maybe something "Knowing she couldn't choose" because of her parents divorce. Thanks again!Shawn www.myspace.com/shawnwhite88 http://members.soundclick.com/shawn+white
