Take me back 80's pop
Taxi gets some listings now and then about 80's pop. I fooled around a little in my studio. The verse is a bit out of tune, noticed that too late. Maybe a cowbell in the last chorus? What do you think? Production tips are welcome as well! www.alexanderorest.com/pop.htm

New version out now! Think the guitar is more in tuned this time! Added a tambourine and brought the keyboard up a little.

This is a total 80's vibe man! I agree with Patrick, with the right listing, this could find a home. I hear a little bit of Journey and Jefferson Starship in there. Good stuff man!- Big Blue

Thanks guys! One of my friends said: Van Halen. And I can't deny it, the keyboard is a little inspired from them.

Do you think it needs a distorted guitar backing up the bass line? What do you think of my guitar playing? I am a keyboard player mainly and a singer..

Re: Take me back 80's pop
Oh yeah, I could see a 17-year-old guy with a mullet in a muscle T driving his T-top Corvette to a montage with that playing!(OK, I don't know if they made Corvettes with T-tops in the 1980s, but it seems realistic to me.)My only comment is that the intro sounds just a tad dry. The opening bass line is killer, but the treble melody could use ... something. Not reverb, necessarily, but maybe just a slower decay in the envelope so the fat tone pushes all the way through the notes. If your keyboard is touch-sensitive, see if you can turn that switch off! Definitely thought Van Halen when it started, then switched to Top Gun when the guitar came in.Great stuff - your guitar playing sounds fine to me, and the run at the end was just showing off

Re: Take me back 80's pop
Dead on, but for one thing; it's missing some (or too much, to be period-correct) of that 80s digital hall reverb found on such classics as "Final Countdown". The Oberheim-style keyboard patch is particularly effective, and the guitar tone is also screaming "80s". Well done!
