On a lighter note.I was logged in to Taximusic, then I popped out for a while without logging out.My session expired in that time.I came back to my PC and logged out and got a rather amusing message. It seems the web developers have integrated a sense of humour

As long as they update their snail-mail postcards to say something other than "Congratulations! Your TAPE has been forwarded", I'll be a happy camper.

Oh what the heck... Isn't Taxi at least partially about potentially life changing appointments?I can't help but think about Jason Blume's excellent session at the Taxi Rally. He focused on the concept of "What if you had an appointment next month to present a song where you knew that the outcome of that appointment could change your life? What would you do?". He asked if we wouldn't write and rewrite that song again, over and over, focusing on every aspect of the song, paying attention to every small detail so that when it came time to present our song at this possibly life changing appointment that our song was the best song that we could possibly produce at that point in time. For some reason I don't remember him mentioning that after all that work, presenting that song in 128k MP3 quality was good enough because the person we were meeting with would know to overlook the artifacts and imperfections inherent in files of that quality. I know... I know...

I know... I know... Spot on Dave I did wonder about this point. Then I remembered!I've spent a bit of time myself, listening to offerings that members put up on 'peer to peer' and 'Shameless self promotion'.It's been a really good experience. Not only did I get to hear and give my opinions, but I read the opinions of some pretty savvy members on the technical aspects. All really good stuff. It made me listen again to spot the things I hadn't noticed.I have to say though. I haven't seen anybody suggest that they should encode their composition at a higher bitrate, because of a reduction in acoustic quality.I'm quite sure that the offerings have covered a range of different bitrates.

Quote: I wonder why Matto didn't know this yet?Because, even though I'm on the beta team and have had stuff uploaded on Taximusic for while now, I tend to worry about the important things Sorry Steve, couldn't resist...in light of your previous post...All kidding aside, I fully understand people's concerns about the quality of their mp3s, of course you'd want your music presented in the best possible quality. But I also find it important to put this type of stuff into perspective. The OP expressed worry, even anxiety over this issue, and from my years of experience dealing with the licensors and publishers of broadcast quality material I can tell you that 128k streaming should be no cause for anxiety. In the grand scheme of things, this a minor detail, and I hate to see people let minor details distract them from the important stuff.matto

Oh........Alright then If I upload a 128k file. Surely it cant be any better than that quality. Unless Taximusic have this amazing processing engine that actually improves the fidelity of your music!!!!!I know. I'm being silly now.I will assume that they mean the streaming quality is 192. It probably explains why they specify that you do not upload an MP3 with a higher bitrate than that. All I can say about that is that when you go full on with Taximusic to all members, you'll be frying eggs on the servers.
