Re: Taxi's A & R
Oh wow, I was just looking at that link Vikki posted and turns out i shared a flight from LA last year and sat next to a screener! We discussed music and the industry all the way home. Nice person and her credentials are amazing. Never did ask her for her number, man I suck at networking, thats one of the main reasons I'm not going to the rally.

Re: Taxi's A & R
Hi Casey Ya I have heard the reasons before. However this policy appears to others and me to be like the Wizard of OZ hiding behind the curtain so that his true identity is not reviled to those that have come from afar seeking wisdom and help. The difference being we are paying for that wisdom and help. There are laws against life threats and harassment. I saying they can deal with it or find an other career maybe choose a less hazarderest occupation. It could be stated right up front to the members that anyone makeing life threats or is guilty of harassment will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is only my opinion but I have been a businessman most of my life and I have always dealt man to man in my business transactions. So it is in most of the real world. Thanks mild Bill PS love you guys I'm not looking for a fight here, I'm just stating what I'm sure has gone through your minds at one time or another or at least I hope so, and may need to be revisted.

It really does make sense to ME. Remember, just because there are laws against something doesn't mean someone wants to deal with it. Being legally right doesn't always allow you to sleep at night when worrying about the safety of you and your family. And lawyers cost time and money, especially the latter . They need screeners to make the company work. If screeners got threats and decided to quit because it was not worth the major aggravation, there wouldn't be a company. So I take it at face value and reasonable. But I'll give you reviews anytime and sign my name to them... Cheers,Casey

Unfortunately there is a percentage of the population who can't handle the rejection professionally. We see it here with angry rants against screeners. Being contacted at home (not work), being screamed at, receiving death threats against yourself and your family... who can pay you enough for that? That's not to say that I don't understand what you are saying -- you want to know that the person who screened your submission has the qualifications to do so.... not to argue with them over their comments, right? The listing clients - many of whom are major players in the music industry - know who the screeners... and those clients trust the screeners to do the job they are asked to do. But if you really feel strongly about this, then I'd suggest calling Taxi customer service at the toll-free number posted at the top of the Forum. They're the folks who make the decisions.

I can tell you from working at TAXI that every single screener is highly credentialed. Yep, the people you see listed in A&R are the people screening your songs.

Re: Taxi's A & R
Wow I just didn't know it was such a dangerous job I must just be totally naive. Taxi must have some terrible members a bunch of mass murders. Sweet Hummingbird my problem is not with the critiques 8,9,and 10s are the scores I have been getting and the screeners have been nothing but positive and supportive of my music. I just think as we build our resumes it would be nice to have signed reviews by respected A&R people. I use their critiques on my song historys but it looks very silly when it is signed by 666 or 007. My point is I'm paying good money for custom critiques, I just believe it should be signed thats all. Sorry that upsets so many people to expect what I getting from other reviews I pay for. I will pay the extra $15.00 to have a signed review by a A&R person with name recognition. I just think that's smart business I didn't know I was asking people to put their lives on the line or I don't know if I buy that excuse. mB

I don't believe we pay Taxi enough money to demand that particular right. If there were another zero on the end of the annual fee--and one on the end of the submision fee,and then double it--perhaps.Not saying your money isn't good--hell, in the present crash my costs of submission have just doubled, I've just realised, so your money is twice as good as mine! But--the Taxi membership fee is way below what you would pay for a couple of hours time of any high-level professional, and the submission fee is simply a lo-cost filter. I'm coming at this from a professional consulting aspect (not repeat not a lawyer or stock/finance) where I'm middleweight, and even opening your mouth in my presence is going to cost you a hundred bucks. In part, that gate fee is a filter, meaning "you'd better be serious before you even pick up the phone". And that's without me even listening. We know Taxi uses industry mid-weights to heavies. We just don't pay anywhere near those rates. We wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. One other small point why people remain anonymous--ignoring the fact that the industry is full of crazies--just look at us . Some of them might be between heavier jobs, and taking the equivalent of working in the vineyards to stay afloat before they pick up again. Who'd want the world to know? Looks really baaaaaaad on a CV!Tim ------------All correspondence to "The Happy Return, Overthehill" please

Re: Taxi's A & R
Have you called Taxi to discuss this, MB? You seem to be frustrated by the issue, so why not call them? We Forum/Taxi Members are only passing along the reasons we've been told or understand to be true, none of us work for Taxi. Take your concern(s) to the company! The number is at the top of the Forum. After all, you pay for that service too.
