Okay! I get it. Yes, I am a hard - headed guy! However, there will be an 'agree to disagree' thing going to happen here. 1st, Casey, thank you. The " Santa's Drunk " tune WILL be rewritten. I though there was more cohesiveness to it. I was wrong.
2nd, the song "Don't Go Away" , has been signed to a publishing deal in Nashville with a heavy-hitting producer/songwriter. He thinks that it's GREAT, as he put it. He thought it was very visual and not confusing at all. Whether or not he plans to use it as 'country', I don't know; could be alt./rock for all I know. I was just seeing if the re-written version of this song would get the same treatment from the screeners. IT DID.
( I was curious if "the one persons' opinion" from Taxi held true across the industry. NO. It's really just - one persons' opinion, albeit, an informed one.) Meaning, if one person does not like a tune, check with 5 others BEFORE you make a load of changes to your song on the advice of a Taxi screener.
How many books have you read, or movies you've seen, in which you said, " I wouldn't have done that." Just remember to tell the author or director, how you would've changed things around. I'm sure they're open to changes, for you.
I'm curious how many 'hits' that screener # 34 has written, and whether or not we would all agree on their song if we reviewed it. I dunno...
Oh, Casey, you must be one of the nicest people I have yet to meet!
... the only race we're in, is the human race... D.B.

Hey Dave, you know I love this tune!! Congrats with the publishers, let us know when it blows.

If helps in the understanding here , the hook lyric "Don't go away" sounds (on initial reaction) like it is the guy saying it to the girl... which causes a confusion to the story.

In the thread that Len posted back to we chatted about that , throwing in a "she cries" or something.

I recon keep that in mind for these lyrics as I feel you are going to get that reaction from folks that are looking for the story closley, like film/tv screeners I guess, but never at any point would I say you need to doupting the tune itself, if your tempted too.

A lil pre armed that you may get a confused reaction back may save some pain down the line!?

Lots of Love from England,#

Rob
